Thank you, Amy Schmitt, for painting our beautiful new children’s processional cross and leading Summer Children’s Church!

Summer Children’s Church will continue on August 20th and 27th. We’ll take a break on Labor Day weekend, then our Children’s Formation programs for the school year (Godly Play for age 3 - 2nd grade, and Feasting on the Word for grades 3-5) will begin on September 10th.

Youth in grades 4 -12 are invited to join our Acolyte Team! Here's a note from Acolyte Ministry Leader Marianne Palmer:

Dear Rising Fourth Graders, Fifth Graders, Middle and High School Students and Parents,

I hope you all had a great summer! As you prepare to go back to school, I would like to invite you to become an acolyte at Christ Church. The acolyte ministry is very important and no Sunday morning worship service could function without acolytes. Acolytes participate in worship services by leading processions, carrying crosses and torches, and assisting the clergy during the Holy Eucharist.

Participating in this ministry will allow you an opportunity to serve the Lord, not only by coming to church, but by taking part in the worship service. By serving as an acolyte, you will develop confidence and leadership skills. Our youth are not only the future of the church, but are the church now. I encourage you to take this opportunity to take part and have fun doing it!

The next acolyte orientation will be Sunday, August 13th, in the sanctuary following the 9:00 a.m. service. I will look forward to meeting you then. Please bring your calendars in order to schedule your training and available days to serve.

Third Grade Bible Presentation
Sunday, September 10th
9:00 am traditional service

Christ Church is pleased to present personalized, leather-bound NRSV Bibles to our third graders again this year! This gift is intended to become a lifelong treasure - God's word to guide our children both inside and outside the walls of our church, as well as a tangible symbol of our community's investment in their faith formation.

This Sunday, kids of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks to worship for a special blessing on the new school year! We'll bless the backpacks during the 9:00 Traditional, 11:15 Jordan, and 12:45 Spanish Language services.

Love First VBS Day 5! Today’s “heartbeat” was THE GREATEST LOVE STORY: We were made for love.

Today we heard about God’s generous, inviting, never-ending love in the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), made party mix to give away to people we love, learned about Beaches Council On Aging, had a dance party, and played water games! Our hearts are FULL!

It was an amazing week, made possible by the best volunteers in the whole world. This year’s Outstanding Youth Volunteer award went to Maura Waller!

Everyone is invited to join us for breakfast and worship this Sunday! Breakfast is served beginning at 8:15, and our VBS celebration will be in the 11:15 Jordan (contemporary) service on the second floor of Westbury Hall (where we had assembly each morning). Campers and volunteers will sing a song from VBS, and we’ll watch a photo slideshow. Wear your VBS shirts and bring the whole family. All are welcome!!

Love First VBS Day 4! Today’s “heartbeat” was THE BELOVED COMMUNITY: I can learn from others who love one.

Today we heard about the life of “Mister” Fred Rogers, decorated houses for our neighborhood, learned about Beaches Habitat for Humanity, and played more games! We even took a HUGE group photo!! Can’t wait for tomorrow!

Love First VBS Day 3! Today’s “heartbeat” was LOVE GOD: I can see and feel God’s love in my life.

Today we heard about Jesus’ friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (Luke 10:38-42, John 11:1-44), created “listening wands,” learned about Diaper Bank for Northeast Florida, and played more games! Everyone had a blast!
