(Jeremiah Chapter 28) The True & The False.
The False:
Hananiah, a false prophet, came with a self- manufactured message to the people that offered them what they wanted to hear. Relief, deliverance from God's Judgement and a false sense of security and safety. What a relief it was to the freshly ears and hearts of the people whobwere hoping in this false message.
The True:
The Prophet Jeremiah was sent by God to the people with a message given to him from God Himself. This was a message that the freshly ears and hearts of the people did not want to hear. A warning of coming judgement! A call to repentance and a pronouncement of death upon the false prophet Hananiah that very same year! May we ever be careful of who and what "word" we are listening to! Many times, a true word given from God may not be what we want to hear or want to accept. But our hearing, acceptance and obedience to the truth of God's "True Word" is what will spare us, save us, and put us on good ground and in right standings with God. Let our hearts always and forever be humble, obedient, receptive and responsive to The Truth of God's Word.
