Lights At Lutheran ~ First Lutheran Christmas Lights would like to thank the following students for lending a hand with the new voiceovers we have had playing in our display since Friday night.

The Lutheran Peanut Butter and Jelly Brigade spot features the voices of Finley Kinkaid, Katara Hunt and Landon Wyatt.

The Our Blood Institute spot features the voices of Seth Greenhagen, Allyson Jones and Liles McKee.

And imitating Maverick and Goose in the Need For Speed spot are Cristian Aguilar and Thatcher Honick.

I want to thank these young ladies and gentlemen because enlisting their help means we don't have to hear MY voice in the display, and frankly I'm tired of my voice in Christmas lights.

If you know any of these young men and women be sure and tell them Thank You and let them know how great of a job they did!

Just a reminder for everyone that we will be working on the Lights At Lutheran ~ First Lutheran Christmas Lights light display at 1st Lutheran School tomorrow (Saturday) immediately following the Veterans Day Parade.

I expect to be there by about 11:30 and at least some of us will be working until dark.

Any help we can get would be awesome. Even if you just have an hour or so and know nothing about Christmas lights you can still be helpful.

Attention all Lights At Lutheran ~ First Lutheran Christmas Lights fans.

We WILL be setting up the lights this year, however we are seeking some help doing it.

I will be starting on them in the middle of this week, and we are looking for some help on Saturday November 9th after the Veterans Day Parade untul about dark with erecting the mega trees and the tower lights.

You don't need to know anything about Christmas lights to help, and you don't need to stay the whole day. Even an hour or 2 would be helpful.

As you open your gifts today or watch the joy on your kids faces as they open theirs, as you eat your Christmas dinner and enjoy fellowship with your family, as you enjoy all the traditions of the holiday with the ones you love, please remember that across the world many young men and women are not getting that chance today as they are somewhere away from the ones that they love serving our country.

Today is the loneliest day of the year for a military member.

If you know someone who is deployed or away from home this year serving our country, let them know that you miss them but MORE IMPORTANTLY, let them know that you appreciate their sacrifice.

To every active duty member or veteran on my news feed, THANK YOU.

2023 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS LIST!

So at this point it looks like we will only have 3 animated displays in Ponca City this year.

1. McCord Lights. HUGE and beautiful display. Located 1.5 miles south of US 60 on McCord Road. When you think you have gone far enough you probably need to go just a little bit further.... Radio 89.3 FM.

2. Lights At Lutheran ~ First Lutheran Christmas Lights. at 5th and Liberty Street Radio 89.3 FM. Lutheran is doing a special fundraiser for Saint Jude's this year in honor of their former school secretary Connie Erickson.

If you feel like you want to you can donate online (link below) or a cash donation at the light display but as always no donation is required.

3. Christmas on Pine Street. 1405 N Pine Street. Radio 89.3 FM. Always tacky, always trying to make your kids sing annoying songs all the way home. Yes Achmed is still there. And the song about farting on Santa's lap. Bonus: Fruitcake is back.

Patterson's Joyful Lights on Lora Street is no longer. Don't bother going up there to look, the family has moved and is not doing a display this year. They may do something next year but I will leave it to them to announce that when they decide.

Personally I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to Lance Patterson for giving so much of himself for so many years to please the people. Most of you have no idea how many hours of work go into one of these displays. I do, and have HUGE respect to Lance for doing it so many years.

That's all we have this year. If anything changes I will be sure to let you know.

Lights At Lutheran ~ First Lutheran Christmas Lights is LIVE, and ALMOST complete. I still have to finish programming our charity voiceover and put it in the show.

This year, we have changed our charity collection to honor Connie Erickson, who passed away this past summer. Connie was the former secretary of 1st Lutheran School, and the big sister of the guy who programs this display.

When Connie was battling cancer she said that she never understood what guilt really was until she was feeling sorry for herself during chemotherapy and then saw a child getting the same treatment.

She requested that any donations made in her name after she passed be made to Saint Jude's Children Hospital.

Therefore we have set up a fundraiser with Saint Jude's under her name. As always you can put cash in the donation box at the display, (outlined in white lights) or you may donate at the following link.

For those who didn't know, my sister Connie Erickson who was the school secretary at First Lutheran School for many years passed away over the weekend.

Her services will be held Tuesday morning.
