Happy Father’s day to all of our fathers and grandfathers. Today we are preaching on 2 Corinthians 5:6-17 on living as part of Christ’s body of faith.

It’s the fifth Sunday of Easter. Today we wrestle with Acts 8:26-40 as we ask how we walk the road of resurrection. In light of the passing of Dr. James Cone and his great work with liberation theology today we focus on those who are excluded from our society because they are on the margins of society. How do we change our perspective to recognize that is where Jesus lives.

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ " ~ The Gospel of Matthew 25:37-40

This message from Father Marc of Pwoje Espwa (Project Hope) of Haiti. This community and home for orphans and vulnerable children in Haiti has suffered great damage from hurricane Matthew and needs our help to rebuild. They house, feed, educate, and care for 350 Haitian children onsite as well as educate and assist another 2000. Please read Father Marc's message below as well as the update of the condition of the village.

"So many people have been affected by this massive storm. Espwa has always supported the local community as much as possible and we will continue to try to serve their needs while meeting our own, but we must beg for your help NOW! The quickest and easiest way for you to help is to make a donation online.
For many in Haiti, the only food they had to survive on is what grew in their meager gardens. Now without a garden they have nothing to eat. Many will come to Espwa seeking help. How will we provide for these increased and urgent needs? We must rely on your generosity!
The children at Espwa and the entire country of Haiti need our support more than ever now. Let’s help this country overcome yet another horrific situation.
Blessings,
Father Marc"

Thanks to my Uncle JIM for sharing this with me. Read, enjoy, and share it please.

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope! A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. He wrote: "I've gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers and priests are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all". This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column. Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible &; receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment!
