Walk Worthy… Worship is a Lifestyle is the vision of Rev. Powell, Minister of Music at The International Gathering at Beth Rapha in Pomona, NY. Dana has traveled extensively across the United States and overseas singing and teaching the biblical Theology of Music as it relates to choirs, musicians, directors, and pastors who desire spiritual, technical and practical understanding of Music Ministry
. The Conference, under the auspices of The International Gathering at Beth Rapha and the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline E. McCullough, Bishop-Elect, is designed to attract and educate persons who are interested in the biblical theology of music ministry. Classes offered are Biblical Theology of Music, Worship, Choral Singing, Choral Directing, Songwriting, Business Management, Dance, Music Technology and Leadership, to name a few. The Conference received its name and meaning from a passage of scripture found in Ephesians 4:1-4. Here the Apostle Paul states (taken from The Amplified Bible):
I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service, Living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another. Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace. [There is] one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received. Our vision is to be instrumental in developing a more mature Christian Community throughout the Body of Christ as it relates to Music as Ministry. This can only come from a foundation in the Word of God. Without the power of the Word of God, music is merely a source of entertainment in our churches and not the powerful worship experience it is ordained to be. It is the desire of both Rev. Dana and the Board of Directors to develop a curriculum that will prepare and challenge all who attend the Annual Conference both academically and spiritually for global ministry. Walking worthy of the vocation involves our walk before the unbeliever in the world … it’s time to "Walk Worthy"!
