Before you speak about someone’s failures, remember how many times God stayed silent about yours.
It is easy to point out the sins of others while hiding the broken places inside our own hearts. We often see people at their worst moments, but we do not see the tears they cried in secret, the battles they fight alone, or the prayers they whisper at night asking God for mercy.
Jesus gave a powerful reminder in John 8:7:
“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
The crowd came ready to condemn, but they left convicted. Why? Because every person standing there also needed grace.
Sometimes we hold invisible stones in our hands — harsh words, gossip, pride, anger, judgment, and unforgiveness. Those stones may not leave physical wounds, but they can crush a soul, destroy peace, and push people farther from God.
Christ did not come to destroy broken people.
He came to restore them.
The same God who forgave your hidden sins is asking you to show mercy to others. Do not become so focused on someone else’s mistakes that you forget the cross where Jesus forgave yours.
People may know someone’s past, but only God truly knows their pain.
People may witness their fall, but only God sees their fight to rise again.
So before you judge, pray.
Before you condemn, love.
Before you throw stones, remember the grace that saved you too.
A heart filled with God’s love will always choose compassion over condemnation.
