YOUTH CONVENTION NEWS AND UPDATES:
We wanted to give you all we have so far on the 2024 LCGYF Youth Convention to help your church plan for an awesome, Spirit-led weekend of life change. First, I want to personally thank all of you who sent students to camp this summer. We had some amazing weeks of camp and though we prayed with great expectation, the Lord answered those prayers beyond our imaginations. As a staff, we are praying that all the students who were able to attend camp will have the opportunity to join us for Convention.
After hosting in Monroe and Lake Charles, we wanted to meet in central Louisiana this fall. Due to the inability to communicate with management of event center hotels, we’ve had to think a little outside the box this year (which isn’t that big of a deal for teenagers who aren’t really sure what the box looks like). Our 2 available hotels will be the Holiday Inn Pineville and the Sleep Inn Pineville. The venue for Convention will be the Tabernacle in Camp Po***ck! We have 33 double queen rooms booked at the Holiday Inn at a rate of $124/night +tax. The release date for the Holiday Inn is October 30th. The Sleep Inn is holding 21 double queen rooms at the rate of $99 and several suites for $119 with a release date of October 30th. When you call to book your rooms, ask the for LCGYF block to receive your discount. CAMP PO***CK IS NOT AN AVAILABLE FOR OVERNIGHT STAY. ALL DORM ROOMS AND UNUSED AREAS WILL BE WINTERIZED AND LOCKED.
Kevin and Hannah Curley will be our speakers this year and NXT GEN Youth Band from Sunnyside Church will be leading worship. Kevin is married to former LCGYF leader, Hannah Sharp Curley, and leads students at Life Church in Wichita, Kansas. NXT GEN was able to lead worship at Jr. High Camp this year and this group of students and young adults from east central Louisiana are ready to lead us into the presence of the Lord.
Convention registration this year will be $60 for students and adult leaders. Everyone registered by November 6th will receive a convention shirt. This date is not a cutoff date for registration, but we ask that you send your registration list by this time so we can order the shirts. If you have someone join after this deadline, they are more than welcome to attend Convention, we just cannot guarantee them a shirt. For those who register and do not attend Convention, we will charge $20 for the shirt, which will be given to the group leader. Please email your Convention registration to [email protected] and be sure to fill out the size total at the bottom. Please do not send a shorthand list, a text message with totals, or a Facebook Messenger text with sizes and numbers. Please fill out the attached registration form and send it back completed by November 6, 2024. Please do not send any money to the state office or to any state youth leader. Simply bring your check with you to registration and we will deposit your cash or check on the Monday following Convention. Since we are using the campgrounds, please remind people who are just ‘stopping by’ for a service to register for the Convention. It isn’t fair for most people to pay for the whole weekend, while others simply pop in and out throughout the weekend for the main sessions. This isn’t normally a problem at a Convention Center but could become one since we are using the campgrounds as a venue. Thank you for your understanding.
We have so many more details to present to you in the upcoming weeks such as our theme, our schedule, fun activities, and all the other add-ons we like to throw into Convention every year. As for now, keep these dates in mind and build momentum to get your students excited!
Have a great week!
