Please be in prayer for Todd & his family!
Daddy’s Story-
The beginning of this journey started on May 7th, 2023. It started out as a very wonderful day at church. We dedicated our baby girl to the Lord, and celebrated with our family. What caught my mom, sister, and I a little off guard was that daddy just didn’t seem himself. He kept having to stand up in the back of the church because his lower back was in a lot of pain, he then had no appetite, and was very clammy looking. If you know Todd Frost you know that is all very unusual. After all of us going seperate ways after our lunch celebration I later get a call from my sister. “We’re taking Dad to the ER he has a very high fever, and he can’t urinate.” We found out that if Daddy wouldn’t have went to the ER he would’ve gone septic. He had a bladder infection, kidney infection, and a severe UTI. He had hot flashes, back pain, and urges to urinate, but couldn’t. He stayed in the hospital for 3 days. This was the start of a very long summer in 2023. Daddy was in and out of catheters for 2.5 months. I stayed with my parents during the week days to help take care of my dad while my mom and sister worked because he was so weak. He had surgery in July of 2023 to open him back up so he could finally urinate again, and go back to work.
July 2024 he had a yearly post op appointment, and “everything was fine” so we thought.
July 2025 he had another yearly check up. The nurse looks at his chart, and says did you know that your PSA numbers were elevated last year ? Mamma and Daddy were stunned, and said no we never got a call about the lab results. This started our diagnosis of stage 2 prostate Cancer. There was a lot of waiting from July-October. The unknown will feel like it’s going to eat you alive. In the waiting period daddy did have some scans done, and a biopsy done on August 27th,2025 as well. Those two things did lead us to daddies diagnosis of stage 2 prostate cancer. It was a moderate form, and it was taken very seriously. We were given the option to remove the prostate (and if it came back we still had the option to do radiation.) or do just radiation, and if the cancer was still there after doing treatment he couldn’t remove the prostate. With these two options we as a family all agreed that in removing the prostate would be the best decision. We had hope that once the prostate was removed that all of this would be behind us.
October 28th daddy’s prostate was removed, and he then began the 6 week healing process. Daddy was able to go back to work in December, and all of his focus shifted to his children and grandchildren. My sister got engaged that month , and then I welcomed his grandson into the world in January. We were all on cloud 9 as a family and said 2026 is our year of rest and joy. In February he went for a check up and got some concerning news that his PSA numbers were at a 7 and told if they hit 9 or 10 that radiation would have to be done. His Dr ultimately wanted to see them at 0. (We did too.) He was told to come back in May for repeat labs. The week after my sister got married May 7th,2026 (3 years exactly to the day these problems began.) Daddy went back for another check up, and his numbers went down to a 6. We were told that’s good news because his numbers are going down, and there was no concern for radiation. We were all relieved, and were trusting that the numbers would continually be going down when he went back in August for more repeated labs.
Here we are, 3 more months have passed by, and we are always just a little anxious about these labs. We’re human, and I believe that is a natural feeling to feel. We ultimately aren’t thinking about any bad news to occur though, because our last appointment was good. On August 13th,2026 we were hit with some bad news that all felt like we were slapped in the face. “Mr. Frost your numbers went from a 6 to a 14.” Daddies cancer was back. We were told 45 rounds of radiation, and still the possibility of chemo. A full body scan will need to be done to find where the cancer is. In that moment when my sister and I were called about the news we were mad, sad, and didn’t understand why this was happening to daddy yet again. We are scared. BUT GOD is still good. I know that can be hard to wrap your mind around for us to still be praising God in the middle of this big storm we have ahead. God is the ONLY one who always has gotten us through any and everything. I believe my daddy will have a testimony to share. He has already been sharing it. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand".
When life hits hard, Psalm 46:1 offers an immediate anchor: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". This verse reminds us that we do not have to face tough storms alone.
We ask for prayers. This treatment is going to take a lot out of him. It is going to be financially draining. That is why we are doing fundraisers, and have created this Go Fund Me for him. We know that times are so hard on everyone. We know not everyone can donate, but we do know that everyone can pray. We covet your prayers more than anything.
If you got this far, Thank you for reading daddy’s story.
