“Hot Weather, Cold Bath!”

In this passage we have the writer’s vivid description of the general method of Jewish worship in ancient days. Then he reinterprets this in light of Jesus. The reader is jump started by saying we can have confidence. Confidence in what?

Confidence…
I) Because of Jesus
1) we are clean
2) the way is open
3) we can come before God
4) Jesus is our guide/priest

II) Because of our life in Christ
Jesus
1) we are to encourage others (to do good)
2) we are to worship together

Psalm 6
“Behind the 8 Ball”

This phrase taken from the game of billiards (pool) denotes a person in an undesirable situation. The writer of Psalm 6 certainly fits the bill.

What positive lessons can we take from this unknown person’s miserable state?

1) He/she is comfortable with the Lord (this person speaks their mind freely)
2) He/she is very “sick”
3) He/she anticipates deliverance (whether or not deliverance is realized has no bearing on their faith!)

Genesis 15 (yes, whole chapter)
“The Contract BBQ”

Today we journey with a person known in the Bible for his great faith, but who in fact had many faith struggles just like we do. Even after an amazing victory while rescuing his nephew, Abraham has a season of weakness.

Let’s journey with him through this particular ancient struggle while evaluating our own possible current struggles.

It is a marvelous journey in which today we only look at 2 great lessons for us…

1) Jesus sealed our eternal contract
2) Get on board! Ride the journey of life with Jesus thru our weaknesses and strengths

“Sometimes It Just Hurts”

What a heart wrenching plea from this brokenhearted writer!
Have you been heartbroken, felt exiled, lost things you cherished, felt forsaken?
This writer certainly did, and gave we the readers his manner of approaching the Lord with his prayer…

1) Come here, Lord—see me, hear me, feel my pain
2) You’ve done it before, Lord—do it again
3) It must be my fault?—my sin, our sin?
4) But I and all I have are yours
5) So, in the end, my faith is in You

When we feel that all we have is the Lord, He is enough. Lean on Him.
