When we look at the bride, it is natural to see the connection with those who are sealed. Scripture includes several verses describing the sealed people of YaH, their characteristics, and the blessings they receive.
Ezekiel 9:4
“ And יהוה said to him, “Pass on into the midst of the city, into the midst of Yerushalayim, and you shall put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” “
These are the people who cry out to YaH over the wickedness around them. They are marked, set apart, and protected from judgment.
2 Corinthians 1:21–22
“ But He who establishes us with you in Messiah and has anointed us is Elohim, who also sealed us, and gave the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge. “
Ephesians 1:13–14
“ In Him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your deliverance—in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Set-apart Spirit of promise, who is the pledge of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His esteem. “
Ephesians 4:30
“ And do not grieve the Set-apart Spirit of Elohim, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. “
These verses remind us that those who are sealed receive the Set-apart Spirit as a pledge and guarantee of their inheritance. Yeshua taught that His followers would do great things, and those sealed and blessed with the Spirit of YaH are empowered by faith to accomplish mighty works.
Revelation 7:2–4
“ And I saw another messenger coming up from the rising of the sun, holding the seal of the living Elohim. And he cried with a loud voice to the four messengers to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees until we have sealed the servants of our Elohim upon their foreheads.” And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of all the tribes of the children of Yisra’ĕl. “
Revelation 9:4
“ And it was said to them that they shall not harm the grass of the earth, or any green matter, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of Elohim upon their foreheads. “
Revelation 14:1
“ And I looked and saw a Lamb standing on Mount Tsiyon, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s Name written upon their foreheads. “
Revelation 14:3–5
“ And they sang a renewed song before the throne, and before the four living creatures, and the elders. And no one was able to learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. They are those who were not defiled with women, for they are maidens. They are those following the Lamb wherever He leads them on. They were redeemed from among men, being first-fruits to Elohim and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no falsehood, for they are blameless before the throne of Elohim. “
Together, these verses show a chosen and protected people who bear the Father’s Name on their foreheads and remain pure in their devotion. It is striking how Ezekiel 9:4, Revelation 7:4, and 9:4 all emphasize protection for those who are sealed and all have a similar reference. The description of being “not defiled with women” is symbolic, pointing to spiritual purity, faithfulness to Elohim, and no idolatry or spiritual adultery.
In contrast to being sealed by YaH, satan also has a mark for those who rebel. As we move into these last days, each of us must ask ourselves: Whose mark will be found on us?
“And if it seems evil in your eyes to serve יהוה, choose for yourselves this day whom you are going to serve… But I and my house, we serve יהוה.” Joshua 24:15
