Yeah yeah, we get it. Cooking is cheaper than going out. But when they ran the math at Frugal Family Home, they found that you are spending at least twice as much for your burger and fries. If you go to a nicer sit down restaurant? A family of four is spending $42.60 more! And that doesn't factor in a beverage! So treat yourself from time to time, but be sure to plan for it in moderation in your budget.

“All too often we regard stewardship simply as a matter of our giving to God, but this aspect is secondary. Before we can give, we must possess, and before we possess we must receive. Therefore, stewardship is, in the first place, receiving God’s good and bounteous gifts. And once received, those gifts are not to be used solely for our own good. They must also be used for the benefit of others, and ultimately for the glory of God the giver. Sometimes the budget and your need to get out of the house butt heads. I get it. Sure going to the park or out for a walk can be fun, but I want to DO something... but for free. Luckily, a lot of other people have the same idea! Check with nearby cities, your library or (nudge nudge) your church for fun and FREE events coming up! You'll find free concerts and events, activities, and clubs. You can find places to volunteer, or enjoy community and classes here at NorthRidge!

Exploring local parks can be a great way to get some fresh air and unwind. (Bonus points if you take a picnic lunch with you!) Check out Heritage Park in Canton, and Plymouth Township Park. Hike the nature preserve at the Fair Lane Ford House in Dearborn or the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. Or investigate the continuously improving Detroit RiverFront for free or inexpensive adventures!

LED technology has taken over in the last decade! Typically much more cost effectie than CFL bulbs in the long run and available in all sorts of shapes!
