Peter denied Jesus three times. Standing by a charcoal fire while Jesus was on trial, Peter said, "I do not know him." Three times. And then Jesus was crucified, buried, and on the third day rose from the dead. But Peter? Peter went back to fishing. Back to his old life. Because when you've failed that badly, what else can you do?

But Jesus wasn't done with Peter. Listen to this week's sermon.

The week after Easter can be hard.

You go back to work. Back to the same problems. Back to the same disappointments that were there before the tomb was ever empty.

And you start to wonder: If Jesus really rose, why does my life still feel so broken?

On the very first Easter—while some celebrated—two disciples were walking away from Jerusalem. Disappointed. Confused. Hopeless.

They had heard the news. The tomb was empty. Angels said Jesus was alive.

But they didn't know what to do with it.

So they left.

And that's when Jesus showed up.

Not in the way they expected. But in the exact way they needed.

This Sunday we continued our "After Easter" series with "The Road to Emmaus: Finding Hope in Disappointment" (Luke 24:13-35).

Three truths from the road:

✝️ Jesus meets us in our disappointment—not after we fix it, but right in the middle of it

✝️ Jesus opens our eyes through Scripture—the Word reframes our pain in light of God's plan

✝️ Jesus reveals Himself when we invite Him in—"Stay with us, Lord"

Because if you're walking away from something today—a broken dream, an unanswered prayer, a shattered expectation—Jesus is already walking with you.

You just need to recognize Him.

Don't walk away. Turn around.

What does the resurrection look like from a chaplain's perspective?

Not in ancient Jerusalem, but in modern hospital rooms?

Not 2,000 years ago, but in the last few weeks?

This Easter, I shared three stories that prove resurrection power is still real:

—Grace that makes us ready to die
—Grace that makes us able to live
—Grace that secures a life death cannot touch

Three hospital rooms. Three impossible situations. One God who is still in the business of raising the dead.

Ever wonder what angels are doing right now? In my sermon this week, we explored what Scripture actually reveals about angelic activity.

Not what Hollywood says. Not what greeting cards show. What the BIBLE teaches.

Angels worship:
Revelation 5 — "Myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands" declaring God's glory. Continuous. Never-ceasing. Day and night.

Angels serve:
Acts 12 — Peter in prison, church praying. Angel appears: chains fall, gates open, Peter walks free. God answers prayer through angelic ministry.

Angels fight:
2 Kings 6 — Enemy army surrounds Elisha. His servant panics. Elisha prays: "LORD, open his eyes." Servant sees the mountain FULL of chariots of fire. Angelic warriors everywhere.

Daniel 10 — Angel delayed 21 days fighting the prince of Persia. Spiritual warfare we can't see. Michael comes to help. Victory secured.
