PLANT A GARDEN FOR MARY AND JOIN THE CONTEST...

Dear Friends in Faith,

The Museum of Family Prayer is very excited to announce the 1st Annual Mary Garden Contest. While the Museum is currently closed, we wanted to find a way to bring our mission to families in this time of spiritual need. A Mary Garden is a great way to share faith in a fun and easy way for the entire family, especially as the family continues to watch it grow and take care of it together.

Gather your garden supplies and get ready to get dirty with your family and Mary! AND Don’t forget to send us pictures of your work of peace and beauty. Share your newly finished Marian Garden or your long-time Mary Garden. You’ve put a lot of work into it, now share that beauty with others. As you enjoy your garden, let it be a special place for your family to pray. Our family is one of our greatest gifts from God. Haven’t ever prayed in a garden or as a family? Sounds uncomfortable? Give it a try. You’ll be surprised how quickly it becomes comfortable. Or, maybe you pray all the time? Head over to your Mary Garden the next time you need to pray.

We will award prizes to the top ten Mary Gardens based on criteria such as overall look, design, usage of flowers and love for Our Lady. Second through tenth place will receive a $25 monetary gift card and the book by Margaret Rose Realy, “A Garden of Visible Prayer: Creating a Personal Sacred Space One Step at a Time.” First place will receive a signed copy of the book and a $50 monetary gift card. Enter the contest between now and August 5, 2020. Winners will be announced on August 15, 2020.

And remember what Father Patrick Peyton always said: “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.”

We can’t wait to see all your pictures!

"I probably wouldn’t have my son.”

Pregnancy Help centers are supporting some 100 women each month – new moms navigating motherhood and women facing crisis pregnancies. During this crisis we are seeing Cardinal Seán’s call to take care of each other answered in many inspiring ways by those working for the ministries of the Archdiocese of Boston.

Marianne Luthin, Director of the Archdiocese’s Pro-Life Office, shares with us a story from one of the Pregnancy Help centers:

Recently, one of our nurses received a text with a picture of a beautiful newborn baby boy with the following message:
“He’s absolutely perfect. I wanted to thank you again. When we met, I was really certain I wanted to terminate the pregnancy. If it wasn’t for you and Pregnancy Help, I probably wouldn’t have my son.”

That is how important our ministry is. A particularly important COVID-era response of the Pregnancy Help ministry is their ongoing support to mothers who have recently given birth. Staff continue to be an indispensable lifeline to new mothers who are often alone and trying to learn how to take care of a baby in the midst of such difficult times.

Throughout the COVID-19 shut-down, the nurses and caseworkers at our three Pregnancy Help centers continue to be available by phone, text, and limited (safe protocol) appointments. Their presence, guidance, and support are more important than ever with the uncertainties of this pandemic posing additional challenges to women facing unexpected pregnancies.

COVID-19 has changed so many things, but it has not changed the importance of promoting and building a culture of life.

Please consider supporting the Catholic Appeal using the link below so that you can help ensure the work of our ministries continues. This is Our Church and every gift makes a difference.

Cardinal Sean addresses Racism..

Our country is in turmoil and another election is quickly coming up. How can Catholics charitably engage in discussions about hot button issues with those we don’t agree with? The USCCB’s “Civilize It: Dignity Beyond Debate” campaign seeks to answer that question. In a roundtable discussion hosted by USCCB’s Jill Rauh, bishops and others talk about how to love our neighbor in the midst of such a divisive environment. Catch the conversation on CatholicTV Wednesday, June 3 at 5pm, or Thursday at 10:30am.
