Saw and photographed this lifer bird, the rose-breasted grosbeak, while spending the morning back at one of my favorite places on earth: ! Thank you for taking me there for a reunion with my bird and animal friends during my visit to NYC this weekend. I heard the bird’s song before I saw him (identified him thanks to the Merlin Birds app), and was so hoping that I would see one. My wish came true when this agreeable fellow posed for me a little bit further down the trail.
On top of all the excitement, I ran into .schott and her daughter Hailey in the parking lot, bearing some rescued Monarch chrysalides that they kindly showed my grandson.

After a day of photographing birds, I went to the botanical gardens and photographed some flowers. The first outing was very humid and cloud cover for low light, and the second one was in the middle of the day and brightly sunny so too bright. But I work with what I have. 😁

A tribute to the beautiful city of Minneapolis in more peaceful-and summer-days. It’s kind of a second home because my daughter and her family live there.

Photos include the Mississippi River that flows between the Twin Cities, Minnehaha Falls, and a community garden. This city truly is filled with community spirit, neighborliness and resilience. They are enduring so much right now and it’s a signal to our whole country to stand up peacefully for kindness, democracy, human dignity, and the value of every life.
