Eyes of the Watchman

Eyes of the Watchman Eyes of the Watchman is a blog for watching for Jesus' coming. Every believer is told to watch! Mark 13:37 Jesus warns those who will not watch. Rev 3:3

Jesus tells us very seriously to watch for His coming. "And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!" Mark 13:37 And again; "Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you." Rev 3:3-4 Therefore; if He tells us to watch then there must be something to see

. But there are two ways to watch, with your natural senses and with your spiritual eyes. "For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night... But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief." 1 Thess 5:2,4 All who are watching for the Lord's coming agree that the Lord bringing back Israel is a sign of His coming, hence, they shall see eye to eye. "Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, with their voices they shall sing together; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord brings back Zion." Isaiah 52:8

Jerusalem day! Jerusalem is celebrating the fiftieth year of it's liberation from the times of the Gentiles. 49 years have been complete since Israel liberated Jerusalem and began rebuilding their ancient capital city. Seven weeks have been fulfilled! Dan 9:25 Says that from the rebuilding of Jerusalem until Messiah there shall be seven weeks! Seven weeks are 49 years.
On June 7, 1967 Israel took Jerusalem by accident. In the 1967 Six Day War, Moshe Dayan's forces fought the Jordanian forces back to the edge of Jerusalem and waited to hear from the Knesset whether or not to take the city. But the Knesset was divided and could not make up their mind. While they delayed Moshe Dayan attacked and took Jerusalem from the Jordanian kingdom and drove their forces all the way back across the Jordan River! Securing not only Jerusalem but what Jordan was calling the West Bank of the Jordan River. After 2000 years of being trampled by the Gentiles Jerusalem is now under the sovereign hand of Israel! The Holy land and the Holy city is given back to the Holy people of God!
Our tour guide in Feb, 2001 was in that war and testified that,"When we took Jerusalem there was great rejoicing and dancing on the streets of Jerusalem! And immediately we began to rebuild Jerusalem!" And now, from June 7, 1967 to June 7, 2016 is 49 years!

The Lord established His coming by the rebuilding of Jerusalem when He came the first time. And it appears that He has established His second coming by the rebuilding Jerusalem now! Daniel says, "From the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks..." Dan 9:25 The sixty-two weeks were for His first coming, 434 years. But the seven weeks, 49 years is for today. This coming of Messiah is not what the Christian world calls the second coming, the rapture, etc. For the time appointed in Dan 9 is for your people and your holy city. It is Messiah appearing to deliver His people from their enemies with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm first of all, then He pleads His case with them face to face and brings them into the bond of the covenant! As it is written, "I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face. Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you," says the Lord GOD. "I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant..." Ezek 20:34-37 NKJV
He will gather them back to their land. That has taken place! Just as it is written, "'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land." Ezek 37:21-22 NKJV Next, He will plead His case with them face to face! This is about to come!

He will plead His case with them face to face and the LORD shall be seen over His people! As it is written; "As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit." "Then the LORD will be seen over them ..." "The LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of His people. For they shall be like the jewels of a crown lifted like a banner over His land — Zech 9:11,14,16 He shall save His people, and bring them into the bond of the covenant with a mighty hand, and an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out! It is going to be a SHOW! It is the destruction of Israel's enemies and a show of God's POWER!

And again, "And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins." Rom 11:26-27
NKJV The Lord their God has brought them out of the nations and gathered them back to their own land for this event! To save them and deliver them form their enemies, all who hate and despise them. And His show will be done in the sight of the nations! It is a show of God's power that His name might be declared in all the earth!

There is no mention of a temple. Why? Daniel speaks nothing of a temple. Probably because the temple in the New Covenant is not made with human hands. Remember what the scripture says, "Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split…” Matt 27:51-52 The presence of God was no longer in a temple made with human hands. As it is written, "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands." Acts 17:24 So where does He dwell? He dwells in His people. "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 1 Cor 3:16 And again, "I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God." 1 Tim 3:15 Therefore, when all Israel is saved the temple of the living God will be in His people! When Israel is brought into the new covenant they shall no longer want to use the blood of goats and calves to take away sins. As it is written,

"But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle (temple) not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant..." Heb 9:11-15 NKJV The Lord says in Ezekiel that He will bring them into the bond of the covenant, that's the new covenant! And it is going to be a show!

The Lord will be seen over His people and they shall look upon Him whom they pierced! “And it shall come to pass That just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, Let your hands be strong.’” Zechariah‬ ‭8:13‬ The Lord shall save His people by both delivering them from their enemies and by bringing them into the bond of the new covenant! Then they will know that Lord of hosts, the LORD their GOD has sent Jesus their Messiah to them! As it is written, "Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst," says the LORD. "Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you." Zech 2:10-12 NKJV

Jerusalem and Israel are the center of world news today. The eyes of the world are fixed on what is going on in Israel! And the word of God has much to say about what He is going to do with Jerusalem! “Awake, awake! Stand up, O Jerusalem, You who have drunk at the hand of the LORD The cup of His fury; You have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling, And drained it out.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:22 "But thus says the LORD: "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible be delivered;
For I will contend with him who contends with you and I will save your children. I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know
That I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob." Is 49:25 Note that so many of these prophecies are declaring that all flesh and all nations shall know that the God of Israel, the Mighty One of Jacob is God! And the way they shall know that He is GOD is by putting on a SHOW of His mighty POWER! It is a display of His mighty hand, His outstretched arm with fury poured out on the enemies of Israel!

Notice what the LORD GOD Almighty says concerning Jerusalem; "Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it". Zech 12:1-3 "It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy ALL the nations that come against Jerusalem. "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced." Zech 12:9-10

It is the salvation of Israel
“Thus says your Lord, The LORD and your God, Who pleads the cause of His people: “See, I have taken out of your hand The cup of trembling, The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it. But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, Who have said to you, ‘Lie down, that we may walk over you.’ And you have laid your body like the ground, and as the street, for those who walk over.”” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:22-23‬ ‬‬

““Thus says the LORD: ‘I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’” Zech ‭8:3‬ "And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations." Isa 25:7 ‭“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭2:2‬ "For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." Isa 56:7 "The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

““And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.” ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God.” ’ ””
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭28:24-26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!””
‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Israel - The Fig Tree

“I saw your fathers as the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season.” Hos 9:10 Israel is referred to as the fig tree in the prophets. This is an illustration that the Lord would use later to explain what we should watch for at the end of the age. Notice what he says in Mark 13:28-30 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree : When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near — at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” In Luke it says; “Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree , and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.” Luke 21:29-30 Naturally speaking when a fig tree begins to bud and put forth blossoms and leaves (new life,) we know that summer is near.
Now, looking at Israel in recent history before the 1900’s there was no Israel, the Promised Land was desolate as Mark Twain states in his book ‘Innocents Abroad.’ Twain took a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the late 1800’s and writes of how the Holy Land was desolate just as it says in Lev 36:32-33. Today however Israel has been established as a country and a state since 1948 when with the authority of the United Nations they proclaimed and established the state of Israel, ‘The Fig Tree is budding.’ Since then they have rebuilt the old ruins and have raised up the former desolations… Is 61:4 Israel is budding and putting forth blossoms and buds that will spring forth because summer time is near.
Let’s take a look at what this phrase ‘summer is near,’ is referring to. Summer time in scripture is the time of harvest when they would gather the wheat from the field and bring it to the threshing floor where they would beat it to separate the wheat from the chaff. They would then take a winnowing fan and throw the wheat and chaff mix up in the air and fan it to blow away the lighter chaff so that the wheat would be all that dropped back to the mat laying on the threshing floor. The summer threshing floor is referring to a judging of the harvest, the separating of the wheat from the chaff.
Notice how the term is used in this prophecy in Daniel; “You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found.” Dan 2:34-35 Therefore, the budding of the fig tree means that summer time, the harvest at the end of the age is near.
Now, as in times past God is revealing Himself to all nations through this tiny nation Israel. By this nation we know we are in a generation that will not pass away till all things be fulfilled. And by this nation we know that summer time is near! God has gathered Israel back to their own land in the eyes of all nations as a sign of the times! Israel is center stage in world events today! The eyes of the world are drawn to watch what is going on with God’s people and His land because the whole world knows that the God of Israel is God! The gathering of Israel in these last days is for a specific purpose.
The eyes of all nations are drawn to watch what is going on in the Holy Land because God has a plan in His heart that is revealed in His word. Harvest time is near! There is a great harvest to be gathered in these last days and what God is going to do with Israel has something to do with it.
Notice what He says in Isa 27:6 “Those who come He shall cause to take root in Jacob; Israel shall blossom and bud and fill the face of the world with fruit.”
How is Israel going to fill the face of the world with fruit? We have to know something about farming. Between the seed time and harvest there is cultivating, watering, fertilizing and waiting… waiting for the ripening of the crop. Notice what Jesus is teaching us in this parable; "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground and should sleep by ni...ght and rise by day and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come." Mark 4:26-29 NKJV
It is when the grain ripens that the harvest comes. Notice that there is a progression that takes place after the scattering of the seed, first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head, then there is a waiting period for the fruit to ripen. It would help to know more clearly the meaning of ripe. The dictionary defines ripe; {fully developed; mature: ‘ripe figs.’ Resembling matured fruit, as in fullness.} Therefore; in a sense the world is full of fruit that is not fully developed or mature and the Lord’s plan is to bring the fruit to maturity so it can be harvested. There are a couple of things that the Lord points out that will bring the fruit to maturity. One is a time of waiting, another is the latter rain.
Now if we stick too strictly to the actual natural wheat harvest we will miss what the Lord is teaching us through His parables of the spiritual end time harvest of souls of men. The natural wheat crop would need the early rains to germinate the seed and bring the blade up and form the heads but the latter rain would promote the growth of the head to maturity. Then once the head was matured it had to have a dry time to fully develop the grain for harvest. If the wheat got rain when it needed to dry out it would mold and ruin the wheat. Now spiritually for the harvest of souls of men at the end of the age the crop needs to receive the latter rain to bring them to a fully developed and fully matured state fit for harvest.
Notice how James puts it; “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.” James 5:7 First he makes reference to the coming of the Lord and that is when the harvest will be! But the precious fruit of the earth must first receive the latter rain. Where the harvest of souls is concerned the rain is referring to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The early rain was poured out on the church on the day of Pentecost but the Lord speaks of an outpouring of the Spirit in the latter days that is a much greater outpouring!
If we take a look at the day of Pentecost the Spirit was poured out there in that upper room and as the disciples went out the spirit was poured out where ever they went and preached it. The Spirit didn’t seem to effect anyone except where He was preached and received. Notice how Paul asks some disciples if they received the Holy Spirit when they believed because everyone was not receiving the experience automatically just because they believed. “And finding some disciples he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit…” “…when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied” Acts 19:1-2,6
The initial outpouring on the day of Pentecost was an exception to the rule. It was the early rain outpouring that started the church but it did not fulfill all that Peter quoted from the prophet Joel. There is going to be a main fulfillment of the prophecy that Peter quoted on the day of Pentecost. Notice what Peter quotes;
“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and v***r of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.' Acts 2:16-21
Only a portion of this prophecy was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. Where He says; “I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh,” was fulfilled in that it was available to all flesh but only those who knew about it could receive it. And the part where He says; “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and v***r of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD,” was not fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. There is coming a latter day outpouring of the Spirit on ALL flesh that will be the main fulfillment of this prophecy. It will be such that even those who do not know God will marvel at the strange convicting power they are experiencing.
Joel tells us of this great outpouring of the Spirit but he also indicates that this outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh is the latter rain that is to come! Notice what Joel says; “Be glad then, you children of Zion and rejoice in the LORD your God, for He has given you the former rain faithfully and He will cause the rain to come down for you — the former rain and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten… …then you shall know that I AM in the midst of Israel: I AM the LORD your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:23-25,27
This outpouring of the Spirit that is coming is a combining of both the former rain and the latter rain! It will be so powerful that the earth will begin to shake at the presence of God. This great outpouring of the Spirit will bring the fruit of the earth to maturity. And keep in mind that this is in the last days before Jesus comes! This great outpouring of the Spirit is connected to what God is doing with Israel in these last days. It is really God who will fill the face of the world with fruit by what He will do with Israel. Therefore the Lord says watch the fig tree. Watch Israel! Not just in the natural but search with your eyes what God says about Israel in the prophets.
This outpouring of the Spirit will coincide with Israel coming into the bond of the new covenant. They are not in the new covenant yet but the time of their punishment has ended and the time of their blessing has arrived as it is written by the prophet Jeremiah; "Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place… …and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good… …Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.' For thus says the LORD: 'Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.” Jer 32:37-42
After they have born their shame and their punishment for all their sins the Lord says He will perform all the good things that He has promised them. All the blessings that He has promised them are tremendous! After the gathering of Israel back from all nations to their own land is the time when all these good things will take place. After their Messiah having gathered them back to their own land will then bring them into the bond of the covenant. Notice what Ezekiel says; “I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered… I will plead My case with you face to face… I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.” Ezek 20:34-37 Where He says ‘I will plead My case with you face to face,’ it sounds like they will see their Messiah! And to come into the bond of the covenant they will have to be saved!
Zechariah has a lot of good things that God says about Israel and he describes a time when the Lord will be seen over His people; “Then the LORD will be seen over them… The LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of His people.” Zech 9:14-16 The apostle Paul agrees with this in what he says in Romans 11 where he says; “If their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?” He says that the acceptance of Israel would result in life from the dead! I use to think that meant raised from the dead. But then knowing definitions of words it came to my remembrance that the definition of revival is ‘to bring back to life.’ Their acceptance will result in the greatest revival the world has ever seen! Notice how Paul pleads a case for the nation of Israel in their defense and sums it up with these lines for the church; “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins." Rom 11:25-27
All Israel will be saved! That tells us right there that they will come into the bond of the new covenant! They cannot be saved without coming into the new covenant. So knowing this other scriptures come alive! Their Messiah is coming and He is going to put on a show! He will deliver them from their enemies in the manor which the Jews were looking for Him at His first coming! And as we track this event through scripture we see that when He delivers them from all the nations that lay siege against them to destroy them there is an outpouring of the Spirit that takes place.
Notice what Zachariah says; “Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” Here we see all the nations are against Jerusalem, ‘in opinion,’ but it is the surrounding nations that will be destroyed when they come against it in the following passage. This is going to be a show of God’s power that He is going to do while all the nations are watching.
Reading on in this chapter Zechariah says; “In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem… It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. ‘And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced.’” Zech 12:1-3,8-10
We know that this prophecy, ‘they will look on Me whom they pierced,’ was fulfilled when Jesus hung on the cross but if you will notice it was taken out of context for that fulfillment. There is no reason why it cannot be fulfilled again and this time in context with the rest of this chapter. Zechariah also says the Lord will be seen over His people and that would agree with this passage. But here is a passage where God pours out His Spirit on His people when He comes to destroy all those who seek to destroy them.
This is an event that is to come after the Lord has gathered Israel back to their own land and have rebuilt Jerusalem. There are more scriptures referring to the gathering back and restoring of Israel to their own land than any other prophetic subject in all the prophets. And when the Lord speaks of gathering Israel back to the land of their fathers He also speaks of judging all those around them who despise them. If Israel were not gathered back to their own land these prophecies could not be fulfilled. If Israel were not surrounded by a people who despise them the prophecies could not be fulfilled.
Therefore, in our days the Lord has gathered Israel back to their own land and they are surrounded by a people who despise them. It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight! He says; “Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, 'He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.'” Jer 31:10 God reveals Himself to all the nations of the world through His people Israel.
