This Saturday, September 30, 2023, is the last day of the downtown Pleasant Hill Farmers Market. 9 to Noon- 2nd Street and 58 Highway.
As we close out our market season and celebrate our Fall Harvest, we are also going to be collecting donations for the continued upkeep of this cemetery.
The cemetery relies on donations to do the mowing that is required to keep this historical gem looking good and visitor ready.
We have not actively asked for donations in over 2 years.
Pleasant Ridge Farms - will be bringing some local history information to the market Saturday.
I know times are tough, we are all stretching our dollars as much as we can.
If you are able, please stop by the farmers market and donate. Donations of $5, $10, $20 even $50 or more, go a long way towards keeping up this historical gem.
There is so much local family history here. As well, did you know our cemetery contains a Revolutionary War grave marker?
Joseph Hall who served as a private in the Continental Army. He died in 1843.
Continental Soldiers in the Revolutionary War. Soldiers who served in the Continental Army fought on behalf of the 13 colonies in the Revolutionary War. These soldiers were young and inexperienced, especially in comparison with the formidable British army, but they were highly motivated to win because the freedom of the colonies was at stake.
There are likely even more Revolutionary War heroes buried in both states for whom time and the elements have made their markers, or even graves, lost to history.
It is estimated that 217,000 patriots served in the American Revolution, and by the end of the war of 1812, America had 35,000 regulars and 458,000 local militia, all of which deserve our thanks for our independence.
If you are interested in donating to our Mowing and Maintenance Fund, please message the page or call 816-699-9021.
Thank you! ❣️
