Pleasant Hill Church of Christ We are a non-instrumental, mutual-edification group with scriptural church government communing at the Lord's table each Sunday morning.

The congregation at 5091 E. University in Pleasant Hill, Iowa has been gathering together each Lord's day since November of 1959. Charter members from the Dean Avenue congregation in Des Moines, Iowa started the congregation under the guidance of evangelist Eugene Suddeth until elders could be established. The history of the church goes back much further however. It began in Acts 2 on the day of P

entecost in approximately 29 A.D. when the apostles were given the power of the Holy Spirit, and the church of Christ had its first gathering. These saints and apostles had been obedient to Christ's words, "To tarry at Jerusalem until this power comes upon you!". They listened to the Head of the church, the One who purchased it with His blood, and will continue to be its Head until He returns to receive his bride...the church! Christ established the true church and all saints who want to be saved should pattern their lives and worship services after Christ's teachings and the examples set forth by the apostles who were guided by the Holy Spirit.

Wow! 🤗 And All Glory to God! 🙏🏻 We were blessed to have 31 Bible students listen to an edifying lesson on respect at April’s Iowa Traveling Bible Study! ❤️
Alan Klein led the group for the study, focusing on the theme of respect from 1 Peter 2:1-17. The students considered Christ’s example—not coming to be served, but to serve. They also discussed practical applications ways to show respect to everyone. It is truly encouraging to see the students’ enthusiasm and desire to grow in love for one another and for Christ.
We are especially grateful to the Wood family for opening their beautiful home to such a large group this weekend. Your hospitality was a true blessing and wonderful! So thankful as well for everyone’s labors of love —especially those helping get the kids to monthly studies. Your efforts are making an eternal impact on this generation and Christ’s church. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

We had a wonderful turnout at Saturday night’s Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS) gathering. We are truly blessed by the hospitality of our local congregations. This weekend, Ethan and Megan Schreck graciously hosted. Alena and Jenna also jumped in to help Megan, organizing fun and engaging games for the kids.
Marc led a study on “BFFs”—Biblical Faithful Friends. The students came prepared, were actively engaged, and clearly benefited from studying what Scripture teaches about friendship. When you see an ITBS student ask them what the numbers 1, 3, 12, 72, and 100 represented in the study.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for making the effort to bring their children and for supporting their ongoing involvement in ITBS. These young people are building friendships that will last for eternity!

Save the Date! March 2026 Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS)! Marc will lead a lesson about BFF: Biblical Faithful Friendships. Bible students should bring examples of friendship from the bible. Praise God! Our February Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS) was a wonderful evening of learning, fellowship, and encouragement. Over 20 were present!
We are so thankful to Zach and Jenna Wheeler for graciously hosting and for providing a wonderful meal. A special thank you as well to the Wheelers and Alena Ingle for organizing a fun and engaging Bible game that the kids thoroughly enjoyed. It’s such a blessing to see our youth learning and laughing together!
Heartfelt gratitude to Alan Klein, for his thoughtful lesson titled, “The Mercy Equation: C + A = M (Compassion + Action = Mercy).” Drawing from Matthew 5:7 — “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
The evening was fun-filled and friendships grew stronger. We are so thankful to the Lord for these young people — the future of the church. Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who faithfully invest in and encourage them in their spiritual walk. ❤️🙏🏻

🌸 Women in the Word – Titus 2 Gathering 🌸
Our February Women in the Word gathering was a wonderful morning of encouragement, creativity, and sweet fellowship. Women of all ages came together at the Pleasant Hill church building for a time centered on Scripture and connection.
Bev Brady blessed us with a devotional titled “Our Hands.” Through biblical reflection, she encouraged us to consider how our hands can serve, pray, comfort, give, and glorify God in daily life.
Following the devotional, Madison Twaddell led a watercolor workshop where the ladies learned basic painting techniques and created unique watercolor artwork — using the very hands God has given us to create beautiful works and reflect His creativity.
The day reflected the spirit of Titus 2 — women learning, encouraging, and building one another up. We are grateful for the gifts shared and the fellowship enjoyed. It was a joyful and uplifting time together. Thank you to all who attended and helped make the morning so special! 💗

Everyone is invited to attend the next Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS) on Saturday, February 28, from 4:00–8:00 p.m.

This month’s study will be taught by Alan and will focus on Matthew 5:7 – “The Mercy Equation (C + A = M)."

God willing, it will be a wonderful time of Christian fellowship, Bible study, and encouragement for all ages.

Heartfelt thanks to Zach and Jenna Wheeler for graciously opening their home in Indianola and hosting this gathering. We are grateful for their hospitality and willingness to serve in this way.

Bible students are welcome to bring chips and desserts to share.

What a wonderful, praiseworthy weekend!

On Saturday morning we gathered for the Titus 2: Women in the Word group! 💕 It was a fantastic turnout: 17 sisters-in-Christ! Mother/daughter duo did a beautiful job leading us through “Overcoming Obstacles: A Guide to Positivity.” Many thanks to Allison for shining her light through a heartfelt and thought-provoking devotion that brought many of us to tears. Sincere gratitude to Sophia for leading an encouraging workshop as we created scripture positivity jars together!

On Saturday evening there were 18 Bible students who attended the Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS)! 🙏🏻 Marc created a bible challenge game that focused on Messianic OT promises and NT proofs. It was a great scripture exercise! Thanks to the Klein family for hosting an evening of fun and fellowship. ❤️

Lord willing, we will kick off the 2026 ITBS gatherings at Alan & Shonya Klein's home on January 31 at 4 p.m. Bible students should consider Old Testament passages that prophesy about Jesus and come ready to share with the group. Marc will lead our study focusing on Messianic prophecies. Kids can bring desserts to share. We look forward to an evening of learning together and encouraging fellowship!

Save the Date (Update from previous post): God willing, join us for the next Iowa Traveling Bible Study (ITBS) on Saturday, December 21 at 5 p.m. at Marc & Ginger Hermon’s home. Dinner will be first with study following at 6:30 p.m. Alan will teach a lesson about, "This Little Light of Mine!" from Matthew 5:14.
It will be a wonderful evening of study, fellowship, and fun together in God’s Word!
Kids: please bring fruit, chips, desserts to share.
