ABOUT US
1874- A group of believers, under the leadership of Elder John Cadwallader were separated from the German Baptist Brethren Church because they desired to have Sunday Schools and believed in a complete congregational form of church government. On July 1, 1874, this group of twenty-two believers assembled at the home of Elias Teeter, west of Pleasant Hill, to form an independent church. In

October of that year, they made arrangements to meet for worship every four weeks in a Baptist Church in Covington. They became known as the Congregational Brethren Church of Pleasant Hill.

1875- The present lot was purchased and the first building was built. It was a white frame building with the entrance on the North Side. It is the sanctuary part of the Present Building.

1881- Other groups of believers separated from the German Baptist Brethren Church and became known as Progressive Brethren

1883- They held a convention in Dayton, Ohio for the purpose of organizing into a new denomination and officially changed their name to the Progressive Brethren Church.

1920- The name was again changed and the church became know as the First Brethren Church. The Pleasant Hill First Brethren Church continues to be affiliated with the Progressive Brethren known today as the General Conference of the Brethren Church, with the headquarters in Ashland, Ohio. BUILDING HISTORY
1903- The church was remodeled with the entrance being moved to the east side, and a vestibule and belfry were added.

1912- The classrooms on the east side of the sanctuary were added and improvements were made to the interior of the building during the following years.

1950- The classrooms and the basement on the west and southwest of the sanctuary were added.

1959-1960- The sanctuary was bricked in and the fellowship hall was added.

1973- A new vestibule was added on the southeast of the sanctuary. The belfry was removed and the sides of the sanctuary were remodeled to be used as classrooms and as a part of the sanctuary. The old entrance on the east was filled in with and outdoor bulletin board.

2000- The latest addition was the new restrooms, ramp, and conference room. A new entrance from the south parking lot was also added as well as a covered walkway up to it, making it handicap accessible. At the top of the ramp, a large overhead door was installed. Also, a courtyard was made with a small fish pond, benches, and stone path, as well as beautiful flowers and shrubs.

Doxology
All Things Bright and Beautiful
Stepping In The Light
For You I Am Praying
In Times Like These
We Are So Blessed
Old Time Religion
Only Trust Him
He the Pearly Gates Will Open
When the Roll is Called up Yonder
When We All Get to Heaven

John 14:1-4
"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
