Headed to the church library this week. If you’d like to grab it let me know. I haven’t read it because I’m not a “Christian wife” but I have followed the author for several months and have peaked at a few pages and will say that she upholds a commitment to marriage that takes the biblical covenant seriously and applies it in ways that push back against the cultural war on God’s earliest institution. From a husbands point of view, she seems to be very in-tune with what men desire (dare I say NEED) from the marital relationship and will no doubt bring a blessing to the reader who seeks to apply the content to their marriage. As we’ve been focusing on a marriage emphasis in our church, I’ve been exposed to a large number of different voices online concerning marriage. Some of them have great stuff but many of them I don’t feel confident enough to endorse fully because of a few errors within their teaching. I am throwing this voice in the mix for those who want a healthy view of what biblical marriage should look like because I’ve yet to hear anything that I did not 100% agree with. This is a woman speaking, often from the viewpoint of what a good wife looks like, and so I hope to find the male equivalent to balance things out in the future. But as of right now, this is a good resource for everyone looking to better understand a biblical marriage. (p.s. and if she ever goes off the rails with a teaching, I will remove all of this content.)

What a great day today for our annual church “Lake Day”. God always blesses us with a baptism or two (or three) each year we gather at the lake. This year it was Grace Kreykes who made the move to join the church in an official capacity by going through the new member’s class, being embraced through the approval of the congregation during today’s service, and finally being scripturally baptized at the lake this afternoon. In addition to that, we fellowship over pulled pork sandwiches, four square volleyball, swimming, and a whole lot of fun. I even saw one of the little guys pulling in a 5 pound catfish that unfortunately got off right at the dock. What a day the Lord made!

Our final night of VBS is in the books. Thank you to all the families who entrusted us with your kids for the week. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to Crystal, Michael, Dionne, and Mike…you all are the backbone to this ministry and I’m thankful for all you do!
