This morning our friend Amelia gave the young person address at Annual Conference, the gathering of all the UMC pastors in the state of Missouri and lay people who represent each church across the state.
Amelia courageously invited the Annual Conference to make spaces for all people, but specifically youth, to experience belonging by listening to youth. As well as giving youth space to lead. They shared how friends didn’t feel like they were welcomed at many churches. But invited everyone to be apart of a group project of making way for the next generation.
Amelia and Justin were commissioned as Conference Youth Leadership Team members. This team represents youth voices in our conference and will advocate for more ways youth can lead across Missouri.
We are incredibly proud of our friends who are courageously leading at a statewide level.
