Yes!!

When I was little I would wake up in the middle of the night hearing my mom praying. Sometimes crying. I’d go into my dad’s office and see a Bible filled with highlighted passages and hand written prayers.
They were warring against generational alcoholism. Infidelity. Abuse. Disease. Divorce. So at 21 years old I started making decisions that seemed odd to my friends. Even my Christian community. To honor the prayers of my parents. To declare it would be different for me. My children. Their children. Their children’s children.
And as hard as it’s been at times I still have to say, “sorry, I can’t.” Even when I want to. It’s been broken. It will stay broken.
