"A Final Word" - Rev. Dr. Joseph Prendergast shares words of hope and comfort with the Linton Family.

12/31/2020

We have not been posting our activities since the COVID 19 Pandemic. We are still very active as a church. We hold services on Zoom 2 Sundays and 2 Sundays in our place of worship.
God has graciously kept our fellowship going.
We are extremely grateful all his loving kindness and tender mercies through this year.
As we prepare to enter a new year with the pandemic still digging us we are confident that God is with us and will go with us all the way.
We wish for everyone God’s richest blessings on your journey through this new year.
Joshua I: 9. Be strong and of good courage for the Lord thy God is with us wherever we go.
Be true to your faith and live to honor God.
He’s coming soon. Happy New Year !

Threefold Aspect God's Character.
“For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Psalms 100:5 KJV
The Lord is good.
The Lord is merciful.
The Lord is Truthful.
Everything about the Lord embodies goodness. He never gives anything but what is good to his children. But he does not tolerate evil. His goodness is recorded everywhere in the Bible. When we think of his goodness to us our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude. Hallelujah!
God is merciful. If he wasn't we all would not be here this morning.
Because he is merciful he forgives. We survive on his mercy. He gives fresh supplies every day. Lamentations 3:22.His mercies are new every morning,”He has to do that because men come with new sinful acts each day. O how great is his mercy, it never ends,it will be available forever, everlasting, unceasing. Psalm 103:17
God also embodies truth. God is not a man that he can tell lies Numbers 23:19. He is truth, his word is truth. We take him at his word. We can trust him. Not one of his promises will fail. His word stands forever.
All generations will come to benefit from it.Psalm 100:5
What a surety we have in God. All other ground is sinking sand.
But when we stand on his promises we cannot fall or fail we will prevail.
His truth unchanging firmly stands.
Rejoice in his goodness. Take hold of his mercy. Stand firm on his truth.
Prayer
O God, you are so wonderful in all your ways. How good and great you are, your tender mercies never cease. You are totally worthy of all honor.
Amen. LP✍🏿

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The Bible focuses a lot on prayer.
The Bible opens with prayer Genesis 4:26
And closes with prayer Revelation 22:20
We have examples throughout the scriptures of men of God who prayed in various circumstances.
Abraham prayed for God to spare S***m. Genesis 18:16-22.
Jacob wrestled with God. Genesis 32:22.
Daniel prayed for courage. Daniel 6:10-16.
David prayed with contrition. Psalm 51.
Elijah prayed with earnestness. 1Kings 16.
Paul & Silas prayed and praised in prison.Act 16.
Jesus prayed with constraint. St.Luke 22:39.
If they needed to pray in the course of their life, then it is even more important for us to do so now.
Ephesians 6:18 we are encouraged to pray in the Spirit.
Matthew 18:1 We are to pray continuously .
1Thessalonians 5: 17 We are to pray without ceasing.
When we kneel before our God we can stand up to our enemies.
There is power in prayer. More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.
Therefore let thy voice rise like a fountain day and night in these difficult times.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to
be a faithful prayer warrior. Amen.

God our Refuge, Strength and Help.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.......”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1‬ ‭-2 NIV‬‬
This Psalm tells us that God is with us at the beginning, the midst, and the end of all life’s circumstances.
He is our refuge, our strength, our present help in trouble.
He is our Refuge - hiding place in storms.
Look at all the disasters that comes in the course of life: earthquakes, storms, tsunamis, some literal, some applied to circumstances but God is in the midst of it to control and to remove them. God shall help us early we do not need to be fearful. He is our strength in wars to withstand the enemies. He makes wars to cease. He gives us victory in our battle with the enemy.
He’s our present help in troubles. He is with us always and within us. Be still and know that God will be glorified in all that is taking place today. He is God, Almighty.
Therefore we will not fear.
Prayer.
Our heavenly Father,
thank you for your eternal presence with us as we walk through this journey of life. What a comfort to know you personally as my Savior. Amen.

Habakkuk Resorted to Prayer.
“How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save?”
‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Habakkuk listened to God and after hearing from God he was transformed from a Worrier to a Worshipper. So it is when we move from fear to faith. God’s Word builds faith in his children . “Faith comes by hearing”
Romans 10:17
The Word and Prayer are twin St.John 15:7.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we know God’s Word we pray with knowledge.
After listening to God Habakkuk prayed because:
He was so overwhelmed with God’s glory vs.3-5.
He wanted God’s Work to succeed. 1:5
He wanted God to show his mercy to his people although they deserved his wrath.
Our knowledge of God should drive us to pray.
Do we have concerns for God’s people that drive us to pray?
Are we motivated to pray every day?
If your answer is no, then think about it.
God wants us to intercede for his people. We are to pray without ceasing.
Prayer
Father help us to be faithful in praying for others as you do. To share your burden of the world in prayer.
Amen.

The image of the empty tomb is not a sign of dispair but of our glorious hope of a future eternally secured in Christ. It is the message of hope to a dying world. Jesus is alive and his presence is within us to keep this hope alive until he comes again. Rejoice beloved! Jesus is Alive! He will return! Have a blessed Easter!

Bartered for a Criminal

“But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?” They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising." John‬ ‭18:39-40‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Can you hear these voices in the demonstrators today?
One of the most disturbing act to a human being is rejection. There are countless stories of the devastating effects rejection have on people.
But what happened to our Blessed Savior was the fulfillment of Prophecy: “He was despised and rejected of men.....” Isaiah 53
Listen as the crowd of so-called religious leaders and others chanted,”We want Barabas!” “Away With Him!” “Crucify Him!”
In reality my beloved ones we were represented in that crowd. The words of song read thus,”Ashamed I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers....”
We did this until we finally surrendered to him.
Oh the searing pain we experience each time we read or watch a movie on the Life of Jesus. He was bartered because they rejected him and millions are still doing so for the beggarly elements of this world.
How often do we stand silent in the presence of many who barter Him for pleasure, personal pursuit, the false perception of the good life, acceptance by friends or others who reject Him?
Did it leave you with an aching void, feeling of deep regret, shame?
Let us be on our guard that we don’t barter Jesus in any situation or for anything or for self gratification. There is a hymn of Invitation that we use to sing at crusade in my home church that rings true to date:
“You may barter your hope of eternity’s morn;
For a moment of joy at the most.
For the glitter of sin and the things it will win.
Have you counted the cost?
Our salvation is priceless- God gave his precious Son to experience such horrors so that we can escape it to receive eternal life.
Share this precious Savior so others won’t barter Him for a Barabbas.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus bind my heart to you so that under all circumstances I will be true and loyal to you. Accept my deep gratitude for what you did or me. Amen.
