When a parent corrects a child who is doing something harmful to themselves or and/or other people it would be nice if they just accepted that correction without any pushback. The reality that most parents find is that children can and do push back. They fight. They throw a fit. They make a scene. They protest intensely. As a parent it can be tempting to reverse the correction in order to maintain a sense of peace. But wisdom steps in and reminds you of WHY the correction has been issued. Righteousness comes at a cost. It's greatest opponent are those fighting to dwell in their own unrighteousness. Correcting wickedness or disobedience may not yield the tangible peace of silence, but it will yield the spiritual peace of righteousness. Don't be discouraged when opposition arises. Stand firm. Lead with love.
