🇬🇧 Our England Pilgrimage is underway!

This week, a wonderful group of pilgrims from different churches, backgrounds, and parts of the world have come together in partnership with Footsteps, Azusa Pacific University, and Christ Church Plano for a journey through the story of Christianity in England, led by Bishop Paul Donison.

So far, we’ve explored Oxford and the beautiful English countryside, learning about the people, traditions, and faithful witness that helped shape the Anglican tradition.

Along the way, we’ve shared meals, worshiped together, built new friendships, and reflected on God’s faithfulness across generations.

In the days ahead, we’ll continue tracing the story of the Gospel in England—from the early church and missionary movements to the Reformation and beyond—visiting places connected to centuries of Christian worship, discipleship, and mission.

We’re grateful for this opportunity to learn from the past, grow together in faith, and be reminded that we are part of God’s ongoing story today.

When Evelyn Underhill felt spiritually adrift, she learned from her mentor that her faith was too disembodied.

So, she began serving those in London who were experiencing poverty—and this changed everything. She finally understood the incarnation: Jesus not as an idea but as a person helping real people.

✝️ May her story remind you that God is still in the business of empowering ordinary people like Evelyn, and like you, as saints today.

When Jesus called Matthew at the tax booth, Matthew immediately left it all to follow him. Why? Because in Jesus’ eyes, Matthew found not contempt but affection. As Jesus went to Matthew’s house to share a meal with him—even in his brokenness—so he invites us to come to his table despite our brokenness. Here, we find the affection of Jesus changes and heals us.

On Trinity Sunday, Canon Travis reminds us that God has always been moving toward us. When God rested after creation, he was not withdrawing but taking up residence with his creation. In Jesus’ ascension, we see the same promise fulfilled: Jesus did not leave us alone. He reigns as king and dwells with us through the Holy Spirit. From creation to ascension to right now, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit come to make a home for us.

Who is filled with the Spirit?

Scripture is clear: can't not have the Holy Spirit if you're a Christian (1 Cor 12:3).

If you can say, meaning it (even just a little), that Jesus is Lord, you have the Holy Spirit within you.
