GIVING LOW-INCOME KIDS A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE SUMMER CAMP!

If you went to summer camp as a kid, what do you remember most about this nostalgic time? The reality is too many kids don't get the chance to participate in summer camp life-changing experiences.

Ascension is helping to make camp a reality by supporting some economically disadvantaged KidsU kids who don't have the resources to attend summer camp. We're helping bring summer camp to their apartment complexes by purchasing sporting equipment for KidsU summer sports camps planned at nine low-income area apartment complexes.

Here's my sermon this morning for those who couldn't hear it on the webinar.
"Touch me and see."
I teach a grounding technique I think will really help you stay with your body when thoughts become anxious. In Luke 24:36-48 Jesus asks his disciples, "Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see;"

Son designs Apple Watch app to stop his father's PTS nightmares. This is really good news! Available by prescription through the VA!

Patrick Skluzacek suffered from PTSD-related nightmares that were ruining his life. His son, Tyler, created a smartwatch application to disrupt them. The app recently won FDA approval.

Today is North Texas Giving Day! Warrior Church Plano is proud to support Patriot Paws Service Dogs for their tremendous work supporting Veterans with PTS. We were setting up a joint event and fundraiser for them when the pandemic hit. We are thrilled we still get to support them this way. It takes 18-24 months and costs $35,000 to fully train and certify a service dog and, this year more than ever, Veterans struggling with PTS need your help. If you are looking for a worthy non-profit to contribute to today, please consider giving generously to this worthy organization! Rev. Leslie Stewart has worked with them personally and even given a blessing at one of their graduations. We've seen the difference they make and the impact they have on our community.
