Join us in welcoming Lawrence Embry to the Engage Hope Board of Directors! With his heart for missions and his professional background in finance, Lawrence brings a wonderful combination of gifts to our team. We can't wait to see how God uses him here!

Raised in Brenham, Texas, Lawrence attended Baylor University, graduating in 1991. He began his career at Arthur Andersen before continuing with KPMG and later Capital Analytics. He now works at Goldman Sachs, where he brings extensive experience in accounting and financial analysis. He and his wife, Shelley, are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church where they have served in the student ministry for more than 15 years, and where Lawrence serves as a Deacon. Lawrence and Shelley have two children, Caroline and Cullen, and their spouses, Billy and Jenny, and welcomed their first grandchild, Beckham, in 2024.

Lawrence has participated in numerous mission trips around the world over the years, including time in Uganda with Engage Hope. These experiences have deepened his commitment to service and strengthened his passion to spread the Gospel. He is excited to join the Engage Hope Board, and we're grateful for the wisdom and heart he'll bring to this work!

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 🎉 Today we're celebrating alongside nonprofits everywhere who are making an impact and we want to highlight what YOUR support just made possible in Lamwo, Uganda.

Our recent medical outreach response led to:
🗓️ 2 full days of active medical camp
🩺 1,200+ people being treated by medical staff
🍲 250 families receiving food distribution
🤰 90% of pregnant mothers served receiving their first-ever ultrasound

At 6 years old, this child's family faced crisis as her father's cancer diagnosis left her mother as sole provider for four kids. But through the Sponsor-A-Child Program, her school fees never wavered.

Today, at 16, she teaches Sunday school and is preparing for nursing school where she can care for others just as she was cared for.

Lamwo is facing a crisis, and we're asking you to stand with them. 🙏

Pastor George reached out with an urgent update from the village: malaria cases are surging across the district, hitting children and the elderly hardest — and local resources are stretched to their limit.

At the same time, severe drought has devastated crops across Northern Uganda. Uganda's Parliament has called it a full humanitarian emergency — the worst drought in decades, with over a million acres of failed crops and lives already lost to hunger.

Pastor George is asking for prayer. We believe those prayers can be answered through action.
