When someone criticizes you, disagrees with you, or says you're wrong, what is your first instinct? For most of us, our anger is triggered. We get defensive, we panic, and we try to protect our ego.

In this week's episode of the P.S. Podcast, Wes McAdams and Barrett Bingham sit down to unpack Sunday's sermon from 1 Peter 3. They discuss why we often care so much about our outward appearance and proving ourselves, and how the gospel completely frees us from that cycle.

Because we are fully saved, we can step out of self-preservation mode. The honor that God gives us far outweighs any dishonor that anyone else could show us. When we truly believe that, it changes our marriages, our parenting, and how we handle conflict.

Next week will be the conclusion of our Don't Freak Out series for Father's Day, focusing on how to respond when we mess up.

In case you missed it, our Summer in the Psalms series began last Wednesday with Ryan Himes teaching from Psalm 1: The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked.

Ryan reminded us that we make plans for work, family, finances, vacations, and health, but Psalm 1 calls us to ask a deeper question: Do we have a spiritual plan? ccmcdermott.org/wednesday-summer-series

Join us this Wednesday, June 10, as Charlie Lewis continues the series with Psalm 8: How Majestic Is Your Name.

We hope you’ll be part of this summer of growing together in the Psalms.
