We hope you and your loved ones have a relaxing and fun Labor Day!

"On this day, we pray for the work people do to sustain themselves and their families and to benefit their communities and society. We pray that all people will receive fair wages and benefits and work in safe environments; that they will know respect, gratitude, joy and fulfillment through their labor; and that they will be renewed through times of sabbath. We remember in prayer also those who seek employment or who cannot work.” - Living Lutheran Magazine

Tomorrow we hear the stories of God coming to Elijah in his dispair and the Apostles amid their fear in the storm at sea. The good news for us is that amid fear, dispair, even death our cries reach the Triune God who manifests his presence for and among us. Lord of all the worlds, guide this nation by your Spirit to go forward in justice and freedom. Give to all living in these lands the blessings of well-being and harmony, but above all things give us faith in you, that our nation may bring glory to your name and blessings to all peoples, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen. - Sundays and Seasons

Eternal God, we give thanks for all those who have shown the greatest love by laying down their lives for others. We especially thank you for those in our military throughout history who have sacrificed their lives for their fellow citizens and for us who came after. As we remember their service, keep us mindful of all those for whom this day is a burden, and send your spirit of comfort to them. Be present with all the women and men who are serving in the military today. Help us to be worthy of their legacy, and keep us mindful of their service, that in all things we may live our lives in praise and thanksgiving to you; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
