Stories of Hospitality and Compassion | El Refugio

We enjoyed hearing from Melissa Rodriguez-McClain from El Refugio during Sunday School. We learned about the many ways this organization supports families who are impacted by immigration concerns. The hospitality house offers compassionate care and support for families and children. We learned about ways that we can also help these neighbors and serve them with God’s love.

The focus of tomorrow's mission-minded Sunday school hour will be El Refugio, a ministry out of Lumpkin, Georgia that accompanies immigrants at Stewart Detention Center and their loved ones through hospitality, visitation, support, and advocacy.

The mission's Community Engagement Coordinator, Melissa Rodriguez-McClain (who has visited with us at Maranatha before!) will be sharing about El Refugio, her role, and how anyone interested can help. Please make plans to attend Sunday school and hear from Melissa about our neighbors in need at 10a sharp. Followed by worship service at 11a.

This Sunday June 14 join us for another “Jimmy Sunday”. We’ll be pulling out a Sunday school lesson from December 2007 entitled, “The Call of God.” Think of it as a little Christmas in June!

Sunday school with President Carter begins at 10 AM EST, with worship service following directly afterwards at 11 AM EST. In person and online. See you Sunday!

All music lovers! This Sunday we will celebrate a holiday weekend with a special service of music at our regular worship service time––11:00 AM in the sanctuary.

Our church is a "singing church". We love to sing. So, we'll have some special instrumental music, some special sung music, plus we'll sing hymns together and have a time for requests!

There will be NO Sunday school this Sunday. Only service at 11 AM.

See everyone on Sunday at 11 AM in the sanctuary!

It’s always a good morning when we as the community if Plains can serve our neighbors with food as a part of our monthly Rosalynn Carter Memorial Food Distribution downtown. Thank you for all who make time in their Saturday morning to serve, and for all who come to fill some gaps in their cabinets. And thank you Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. for providing the truck of goods!

We serve every 3rd Saturday morning of the month. If you need food, line up in your car along Main Street early. If you want to serve, 7:45a in the Plains Historic Inn and Antique Mall parking lot. ❤️
