Jesus was aware of the suffering in store for Him and the purpose it held. Despite His awareness, He willingly laid His life down and took it back up again for the remission of our sins. Jesus took the cup of wrath meant for us onto himself when He died on the cross so that we may recieve the cup of life and forgiveness. Mercy and grace are the greatest gifts we can recieve from the Lord and we can only recieve them through Jesus.
