New Recovery House Opening !🙏🏠

Just about five years ago, we launched Way Maker Recovery Residences. My mom, as the founder and visionary, along with my wife and I, opened Hendricks County's first recovery residence. During that time, we saw many men find freedom from addiction through Jesus Christ. Many of those men still, to this day, have restored families, continued sobriety, and are still following the Lord.

After a couple of years of running Way Maker, due to a relapse and being unfaithful to my wife, we stepped away from the ministry completely. I went to a long-term Christian program, we divorced, and my wife went through her healing process.

Over the past three years, I was restored to the Lord, he restored our family, and we have a new baby that we love so much. Recovery is a real process that requires discipleship, accountability, and Jesus. We as a family submitted to a process that was very difficult but changed the trajectory of our lives. Our heart has always been for others to find freedom in Jesus Christ, and since the closing of Way Maker, our heart has been to see the west side of Indy have a place where lives can be transformed.

With all that being said, we are excited to announce the opening of All Things New Recovery Ministries. We have been given the opportunity to take over an existing recovery residence west of Indianapolis. We will assume all the furniture, beds, etc., and will be implementing our own program. We prayed and knew in our hearts that one day we would be able to do this again, but never knew the Lord would provide such an opportunity. Saying yes to this is a step of faith, but after seeking counsel and the Lord, we know our answer is YES.

Opening in January 2026, we are seeking to raise $20,000 to help us cover initial operating costs and the purchase of existing furniture in the home. Would you prayerfully consider giving to support the mission of what the Lord wants to do?

If you do please see the comments. Thank you!

Even though we aren't open and operating anymore we still want to be a resource to anyone out there who may be needing help for themselves or a loved one. We have tons of resources and want to be of assistance if we can. We pray everyone is well! GOD BLESS!

Although we are having to close our doors, we still have 4 men at the residence working to complete the program . We will continue our work with them until the end of March when they are set to graduate. If you feel God asking you to support us, please do. Financial assistance is needed now more than ever as we are not able to support the expenses due to so few men in the house.

DM us if you can help in anyway ♥️ We are trusting God to provide 🙏🏽

Are you walking this out? Are you sure? Prove it🫶🏻

ANNOUNCEMENT:
It is with great grieving that we must announce the closure of the Way Maker House. This announcement may come as a shock, but this decision is a result of lots of prayer and wailing before the Lord.

“Why?” Is probably what you are asking yourself. When my mom, Cindy Whyde, opened Way Maker, she was answering God’s call. He put it on her heart to open this residence because she longed to give those in recovery a beautiful home to recover in. She was told by many how this would not be easy, but still she pushed on.

At Way Maker’s opening, our home had everything to be successful: a program to follow, staff and volunteers that were led by God and operating in their gifts, a full house of those truly seeking freedom from their addiction, and an abundance of faithful donors and volunteers. There were challenges and heartbreaks, set-backs and hurdles to jump, but God continued to bless every new venture.

Then came our season of loss…

We lost staff, and along with it their gifting in the ministry.

We lost volunteers, and along with it their encouragement and prayer.

We lost monthly funding, and along with it the stability it offered.

We prayed for new volunteers and staff to fill the void in the giftings we do not have. We prayed for funding. We prayed for a full house of Jesus-seeking residents. We prayed for grant opportunities and accepted applications. We sought the Lord at every turn.

And He kept answering “No.”

Not everything that comes from heaven has your name on it. While all Christians are called to evangelize, give, serve, and pray (among other spiritual gifts), we are not all called to everything equally or gifted equally for them. God did not gift my mom and I the ability to operate this home without a Spirit-led leader with a gifting in discipleship. My mom has the gift of mercy, and I simply offered my gift of administration. Trying to fake a gift in God’s kingdom is exhausting. He does not expect us to do the work of every part of the body.

We are beyond thankful to those that have offered their time to our community. Elliott and Hannah Hughes, Wesley Quinton, Aaron Pierce, Brenda Lykin, John Matthews, Steve White, Justin White, Kathy Mayes, Wade Banning, Amy Hole and others.

If you donated to our organization, or still faithfully give, we thank you for partnering with God and our ministry to help those recovering. We truly could not do what we do without you.

If your church has welcomed our residents and staff to share, or to pour into their walk with Jesus, thank you for being the body. To The Blended Church for helping us birth this ministry and supporting us prayerfully, financially, and emotionally—thank you. To Our Father’s House, Mt. Gilead Church, Plainfield Christian Church, Crossroads Church, White Lick Presbyterian Church, Stilesville Christian Church, First Baptist Church of Plainfield, Ashley English and Willow Center and others not listed—thank you for supporting us through this journey by offering your time, space, and coveted prayers.

We will be helping our remaining men finish the program and ask for prayer as we figure the logistics out. While we will not be operating the residence any longer, our battle against substance use disorder is far from over. My mom and I will be shifting our focus to fighting this disease using the giftings we have been given. Our ministry will be working to offer the following:

⁃Sobriety and Recovery Meetings
⁃Counsel Opening Recovery Housing
⁃Small Group Bible Studies
⁃Connection to Individual Therapy
⁃Outreach and Awareness Events
⁃Literature and Videos

Our prayer is that some day in the future, we can assist in opening another residence in the future when God gives someone the call to direct it. But right now, God is shutting this door, and calling Way Maker Inc. into a new season.

Thank you and God bless,
Carly Jo Sevion and Cindy Snodgrass Whyde

This art was purchased from DovetailInk on Etsy for what was supposed to be the women’s recovery house. We weren’t permitted to open it so it is in the “Shalom Shack” at the men’s residence.

It is fitting for today🙏🏽💙
