Camp Tecumseh Senior Lodge

Camp Tecumseh Senior Lodge The Salvation Army offers a fun-filled summer-camp experience for the young-at-heart at Camp Tecumseh

The Salvation Army offers a great summer opportunity for our older adults and grandparents at Camp Tecumseh’s Lodge on the Lake. During five weeks of the summer, our older guests experience for themselves all the fun and friendships of summer camping that their younger counterparts are enjoying on the other side of the lake! Each day is full of activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, Bible s

tudy, shuffleboard, and boating, while each evening brings friendly entertainment like campfires, wagon rides, Bingo games, and even the occasional dance party! Despite all the available activities, our guests’ favorite thing about coming to Camp Tecumseh is resting in the beauty of nature. Whether it’s while taking a walk among the hills at sunrise, fishing in a quiet spot on the sunny lake, or laughing with friends in rocking chairs overlooking the water, the beauty of God’s creation refreshes and renews the hearts and souls of all who spend time here. Memories made at Camp Tecumseh keep summer alive all year long!

WE MUST WORK TOGETHER BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS A BLACKOUT DURING A PROLONGED HEATWAVE. These are SUGGESTIONS.. Do one of them or do all of them. Don't lose your mind over them but try to help out by doing some of them.
Set your thermostat no lower than 78 degrees.
Use ceiling fans to keep air flowing when you’re at home and to reduce the feels-like temperature when you’re in a room.
Remember to turn a fan off when you leave the room. Fans cool people, not rooms.
Put off chores that involve electric appliances, such as dishwashing and laundry, during peak power times (10 a.m.-8 p.m.)
Use the microwave instead of the oven for cooking your meals.
Turn off lights when you leave the room and unplug unused electronics.
Keep garage doors closed as much as possible. This will help slow hot air from trickling into your home.
Keep curtains and blinds closed on the sunny side of your home to block out some of the heat, while opening blinds on the shady side to provide natural lighting without raising the temperature.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. -Galatians 6:2

Hi Everyone. We wanted to give you an update on camp. Unfortunately it is not the update we were hoping for. We have been monitoring information from the Governor and the ACA and even though we have a phased plan for opening the state, we have no timeline or guidance for when the phases will occur. We also are understanding that at this point even if camp were to happen (much later in the summer and on a much smaller scale) it would involve both masks and social distancing measures that would make it impossible to run a fun and meaningful program.

For this reason we have made the difficult decision to cancel camp this summer. What that means is that we will not have a traditional, overnight, residential camp this summer at Tecumseh. We feel this is the most fair decision for our campers and for you, our staff. People need to make other plans and it is not considerate to wait any longer for Government clearance that looks less and less likely to come.

We are open to making camp available in other ways later in the summer if possible, however that may look. We will keep you informed as things become clearer and we see what (if anything) is possible. We love you all and appreciate your love for us and for this place. This is tough. We believe it is for the best, though, and we look forward to you All being here next year when we are back in full force.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you all again for your patience and for your caring. Peace.
