Our Best of Greater Pittston 2025 Summer Picnic is just over a month away and WE NEED YOUR HELP!! We need some help “filling our picnic basket!” This year, we are accepting monetary donations, or you can purchase items directly from Amazon through our picnic wish list! A donation of any amount goes a long way in helping us to make this event as profitable as it can possibly be. If you would prefer to purchase items off of Amazon, the list can be found at
https://a.co/08VLdsd0 (this functions like a standard Gift (wedding) registry. Contact Brandon at the office with any questions!). Thank you!!
Other Help is Needed:
The Summer Picnic on the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Grounds will be held Thursday, July 16, Friday, July 17 and Saturday July 18 from 5pm to 10pm nightly! Please see some important announcements below!
Big Beautiful Baskets Needed for Picnic Raffle
We are pleased to announce that our perennial favorite Big Beautiful Basket Raffle stand is back at our SJM Picnic again this year! This Picnic Tradition is always a favorite part of this event. We are always amazed by the creativity and generosity of our parishioners and friends! Donated baskets can be brought to the SJM Parish Office during regular business hours. We welcome any and all baskets to this fantastic raffle! We are grateful to you for your support of our parish events—especially our picnic!
Flea Market Items Needed
Also returning to the Summer Picnic on the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grounds is our Indoor (and Air Conditioned) Flea Market!! We are now accepting donated items for highly-anticipated part of our picnic! Donated items can be left inside the “angel doors” of the Parish Center at your convenience. We accept all items in good condition, except NO clothing, shoes, or electronics (TV, radio, CD players, video game consoles, etc.). Purses, jewelry, and other accessories will be gratefully accepted.
Volunteers Needed!
We are also in need of Volunteers for our Parish Picnic. If you would like to register as a volunteer, please contact Brandon at [email protected] to sign-up.
Volunteers are needed:
- Monday-Wednesday evenings prior to the picnic to help with set-up of the grounds.
- Thursday thru Saturday to work the actual picnic nights from 4pm to 11pm (any help at any time during these windows is greatly appreciated!!)
- And Sunday after 11am Mass to help with clean-up and removal of picnic items.
- Our Youth (7th grade thru 12th grade) are encouraged to volunteer as well! These opportunities are a great way to start on Service Hours for Community Service, Confirmation Service Hours, or other service projects from other groups. Youth volunteers will be coordinated by our Youth Minister, Ed Sankus, who will be present to facilitate their help all three nights of picnic. He can be contacted at esankus@stjohnspittston.
