Why Church?

We’ve been learning what it means to be Rooted in Christ—first, to Grow Deep, then to Grow Together. This week, we take the next step: Belong Fully.

The church isn’t simply somewhere we go. It’s a family we belong to, a body where every person has a place, and a community where we need one another.

As we continue our Rooted in Christ series, we’ve gone from Grow Deep to Grow Together. On Sunday, through Hebrews 10:19–25, we were reminded that following Jesus was never meant to be done alone.

God brings us into His family, and as we draw near to Christ, we’re drawn closer to one another. Community helps us hold fast to hope, stir one another toward love and good works, and come alongside each other when we need it most.

Think about a fire. Coals need to be stirred to stay warm. Sometimes people aren’t walking away from Jesus—they’re just getting cold. We need one another to stir the fire, keep it going, and help each other stay rooted in Christ.

WE NEED EACH OTHER.

Life can feel busy, overwhelming, and sometimes lonely—but God never intended for us to walk through it alone.

This Sunday, we’re continuing our Rooted in Christ sermon series with Hebrews 10:19–25 and a reminder of the importance of showing up for one another, encouraging one another, and helping each other keep moving toward Jesus.

Because following Christ isn’t just about growing deeper individually—it’s about growing together.

GLOBAL OUTREACH CELEBRATION | SERMON RECAP

What a powerful Sunday with Marc Porpilia, missionary with Hockey Ministries International, sharing from Luke 15:11–32.

We were reminded that the church has always been missional:

🌎 Missional — We Go.
We’re called to take the Gospel beyond ourselves and into the world.

💰 Martyr — We Pay.
Following Jesus comes with a cost. The mission is worth the sacrifice.

❤️ Incarnational — For Real.
We don’t just talk about Jesus—we live out His love in tangible, authentic ways.

The story of the prodigal son reminds us of the heart of the Father—a God who pursues, welcomes, and restores.

The lost are worth seeking. The mission is worth the effort.

Pastor Chris kicked off our fall series, Rooted in Christ, in 2 Peter 1:1–11 with a reminder that spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident.

4 KEY TRUTHS:

🌱 Grace comes before growth.
Growth begins with what Christ has already given us.

🌱 Growth requires intentional pursuit.
The gospel is meant to move from our heads → hearts → habits.

🌱 Growth requires us to keep moving forward.
Ask yourself: Where am I growing? Where have I stopped growing?

🌱Growth demands a daily decision to follow Christ.

Are we working just to get by—or working unto the Lord?

In Colossians 3:23–24, we’re reminded that our work is more than a paycheck. Our workplace is our mission field. We’re called to work with excellence, even when no one is watching, and to be salt and light wherever God has placed us.

But God didn’t design us for endless grinding. If our Creator rested, how much more do we need to honor rest?

And ultimately, our deepest rest is found in Christ.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

This week’s challenge:
Go back to work with a renewed outlook.
Aggressively protect your calendar to make room for spiritual rest.

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today, we’re grateful for the gift of work—and the reminder that our worth isn’t found in how much we accomplish.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23

May today be a chance to rest, recharge, and remember who we’re ultimately working for. Whatever your work looks like, may you use it to honor God and serve others.
