Sharing a few pictures from our Blessing of the fleet event past Saturday. Wonderful day with great weather, fun company and God's blessings to folks and their boats and fishing gear. We are hoping this ceremony will be first in many to come and make this Christian tradition an annual event in Pittsfield.

You are invited to come to St. Nicholas church for the Fall Retreat on November 7-8, 2025. A guest speaker Fr. Steven Hoskins will make a presentation with a movie and lecture on a topic of Newly Canonized Righteous Olga of Kwethluk, Alaska. “St. Olga, the holy daughter of the Orthodox Christian Yup’ik people, the holy shoot of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, shines forth with the love of God for all the world. For sixty-two years, she made Christ present to the Yup’ik faithful and the faithful throughout Alaska. Now, she has gone to dwell with God, who dwells beyond the stars. Now, in Him, St. Olga is present and active throughout the world, working wonders and performing healings for the faithful throughout time and space. She is a wonderworker “through whom Christ grants us swift cures, saving reproofs, and a mighty ally in spiritual battle.” St. Olga, whose love and compassion knew no bounds during this present life, now boundlessly shares her love, animated by the love of God, with people throughout the world. She, who made the Infinite One concretely present in Kwethluk during her earthly ministry as a midwife and matushka, now continues to share His compassion, His healing, His mercy, and His joy with faithful people throughout the world.”
Schedule of the event is as follows:
Friday, November 7th at 5:30pm: Vespers service followed by a potluck meal and session one with a movie.
Saturday, November 8th at 9:30am: Divine Liturgy service followed by lunch, second session and Vespers service.
Come to learn more about the newest Saint in North America and enjoy beauty of the Orthodox services. All are welcome.

As we are waiting for the Resurrection service at our church (starting at 11pm), the Holy Pascha already is spreading it's wings throughout the world. Here is a video of Holy Fire ceremony from The Holy Sepulcher Church at Jerusalem streaming a few hours ago:

As we moving through the Great Lent towards the Holy Pascha of Christ we are approaching a Fourth Sunday of the season – Sunday of St. John Climacus (of the Ladder). In his book "The Ladder of Divine Ascent" the Igoumen of Saint Katherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai bears witness to the great effort which is required for entry into God’s Kingdom (Matthew 10:12). The spiritual struggle of the Christian life is difficult since it is “not against flesh and blood, but against ... the rulers of the present darkness ... the hosts of wickedness in heavenly places ...” (Ephesians 6:12). Saint John encourages the faithful in their efforts for, as the Lord has said, only “he who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13). You can listen to a great podcast exploring this book here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXG7Ve4TLbo
