Pittsfield First Baptist

Pittsfield First Baptist First Baptist Church is the oldest church in the area, having been organized in 1823. It was incorporated according to Baptist polity in 1855.

Pittsfield First Baptist is a caring community made up of many diverse people from many different backgrounds, all bound together with our desire to encourage, and uplift each other, and our communities and spread the good news! Following a fire that destroyed the original building, the current structure was built in 1892. First Baptist and the Baptist Foreign Missionary Society collaborated in th

e founding of Maine Central Institute in the 1860's. The current congregation is comprised of people of all ages. There are roughly 200-250 people in attendance for Sunday morning services. Numerous in-home studies and fellowship groups meet at different times during the week. The Church is evangelical in demeanor, and Reformed in its emphasis. There is a regular Sunday School program during the school year. Services are of varying styles, incorporating both ancient and contemporary music. Although the Church's identify is historically Baptist, members come from all different faith backgrounds. CORE VALUES:
