Apply Yahweh’s Guidance

“Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching.” John 14:23

Whenever you are trying to find out what Yahweh wants you to do, there are always two questions involved. One is your question and the other is Yahweh’s question. Your question is simple, “Yahweh, what do You want me to do?” Yahweh’s question is: “Are you already doing what you know I want you to do now? If so, will you do what I want you to do if I tell you?”

Yahweh is not obligated to guide you if you are not going to follow His guidance. He is not obligated to direct you if you are not going to follow His directions. Many of us need to just get honest with ourselves and realize that the real problem is not in finding Yahweh’s will in a situation, but doing it. We will only know Yahweh’s will for tomorrow if we are doing what we know is Yahweh’s will today.

If you are robbing Yahweh with your finances, living in sexual sin, neglecting Yahweh’s Word, or rejecting a command of Yahweh in your life, why should He guide you? You will never know the unknown will of Yahweh for your life until you are doing the known will of Yahweh for your life.

As a Believer, Yahweh desires obedience in every area of your life. This is how we show our love to Yahweh…by obeying Him.

Every soul has an eternal destiny... you will either have eternal life in Yahweh's Kingdom or you will suffer eternal torment in the lake of 🔥..... how you choose to live your life in this realm determines your destiny. If you were to die today, where would you spend eternity?

The End?

“If someone dies, will they live again?” Job 14:14

Thousands of years ago, Job asked a question that people are still asking today. He said in Job 14:14, “If someone dies, will they live again?” In other words, is death a period in the sentence of life or is it just a comma? There are really only two viewpoints when it comes to life after death…either you believe there is life after death or you believe there isn’t. Yes, there is a difference of opinion as to what happens after death if you believe that life continues; but the only stark choice is either this life is all there is, or there is something more.

If there is not life after death, then all of the other big questions like, “Why am I here?” and “What is my purpose in life?” don’t even matter. It doesn’t matter who we are (we are nobody). It doesn’t matter why we are here (there is no way to know why we are here). It certainly doesn’t matter what standards we live by, because in the end…poof! It’s just over.

What you believe about life after death is vitally important to your life now. It is not something to put off thinking about. None of us are guaranteed another day. And while the world would like to sell the idea, “Live your truth, what is true for you may not be true for someone else,” this skewed logic does not work when it comes to eternity. You see, there is one truth on this matter. And every single person’s eternal life is subject to that reality.

Furthermore, knowing that there is life after death – and that each person will be held accountable for how we live and what we believe about Yahshua – should inform all that we do in this life. Knowing there is accountability helps us to remember that what we do matters…not just for today, but for eternity.

More than a feeling

“’The most important one,’ answered Yahshua, ‘is this: Hear, O Israel, Yahweh our Elohim, Yahweh is one. Love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” Mark 12:29-30

“I love that movie!” “I love Italian food!” “Don’t you just love those shoes?” I love college football!” “I love you.” To say the word “love” is overused and misused in our culture is an understatement. In fact, it is so common that it has, in large part, lost its meaning. It is no longer a sacred word, reserved for only the deepest and most lasting emotions. It no longer carries with it a commitment to another person. It has been diluted and stripped of the power it once represented.

In the Greek language of the New Testament, there were several different words used for the word we translate in English as simply “love.” Here in Mark 12, Yahshua is quoting Moses’ words in Deuteronomy 6:4-5. It is interesting that Yahshua is commanding that His followers “love” Yahweh with everything in their being. He is not asking them to love Yahweh …He is demanding it. How can you command love? Over and over again I have heard the phrase, “You cannot help who you fall in love with.” If that is true, how can love be demanded?

The love that Yahweh commands in this passage is not a feeling. It is a verb, and it describes love as an act of the will…a choice we can make. The love that we have for Yahweh should not be based on feelings or circumstances. It is a choice to surrender everything we are to everything that He is. The natural way to love is based on feelings and on the behavior of someone else. This is not Christ honoring because it does not require the presence and power of Yahweh. Anyone can love when it is easy…when it feels right and benefits self.

If our love for Yahweh is based on how we feel, or on what we see Him doing, it is superficial and will not withstand the storms of life. Yahweh’s ways are higher than ours; and His thoughts outnumber the grains of sand. What we see and understand, even as growing Christians, is finite. Yahweh is infinite. We must refuse to let circumstances dictate our devotion and faith in an all-knowing and wise Elohim.

This is why Yahweh commands that believers love Him with full devotion. He knows that such love is an act of the will, and is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. So, the next time you say, “I love Yahweh,” take a moment and examine your heart. Do you love Him by His standards, or by your own?

Training To Endure

“I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task that Yahshua Messiah has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of Yahweh's grace.” Acts 20:24

Have you ever attempted to run a marathon? Running 26.2 miles is not my idea of fun; but successful marathon runners say that it is one of the most rewarding feats they have ever accomplished. One thing I know for sure about running a marathon is that you don’t just show up on race day and try to run such a long distance. In fact, the training is perhaps the most important part of successfully finishing the race.

Half of the battle isn’t the running of the race itself, but finding the resolve to run day after day to train. There are many training techniques for long-distance running. But, there are a few key elements that most coaches would agree on. It’s important to remember that coaches measure success not by how many runners line up on the start line, but by how many finish the race. Most successful coaches agree on these three things: 1) Running partners make the journey easier and more fun; 2) You must fuel up your body with proper nutrition and hydration; and 3) Rest is a crucial component of training.

In Acts 20:24, Paul summed up the purpose of his life. The only thing that mattered to him was to finish the race and complete his assigned task as a follower of Yahshua. The gospel was his focus; and he was intentional about living out his purpose. Life with Yahshua, in many ways, is like a marathon. We cannot just “show up” for life each day and expect to finish strong and complete our God-given task. The Christ-life, like running, requires fuel. Yahweh's Word and His Spirit nourish our souls and give us what we need to be a minister of His grace. Rest is also necessary. We must learn to rest in His power, relying on His strength and not our own. We must learn to not overload our lives with the “good” at the expense of His best. This requires self-discipline.

It is no wonder that Paul compared Christian living to running. Both require endurance, self-discipline and training. Both are easier when done in community. And both begin with a choice…a resolve to keep at it, day after day, even when it is grueling. How do you finish a marathon? One mile at a time. And how do you complete the task Yahweh has given you to be a witness of the gospel? One day at a time.

Yahweh desires obedience over sacrifice.... We must trust that He knows best what's best for us and allow Him to lead. When we willfully disobey it is called rebellion.... Which is sin...

Simply Obey

“His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.’” John 2:5

The greatest advice given in the entire Bible was at a wedding in Canaan when Mary, the mother of Yahshua, looked at some servants and made the simple statement, “Do whatever He tells you.” (John 2:25) No questions, no hesitations…simply do whatever Yahshua says to do.

You can be sure of this, when you are in a situation where you don’t know what to do Yahweh is going to test two things about you – your patience and your obedience. When you don’t know what to do, it is wise to do nothing until He shows you what to do. But when He shows you, you must do it. Yahweh tests us by our faith, but He measures us by our obedience.

The biggest challenge you will face when you don’t know what to do is not finding out what to do. The biggest challenge you will face is doing what you know to do. The vast majority of people who come to me for advice and counseling already know what they need to do. The problem is they need someone to push them and motivate them to do it.

That is why being in a position where you don’t know what to do is not a bad position; it is actually a great position. It is both an opportunity for Yahweh to show you what you need to do and it is an opportunity for you to show Yahweh that you are willing to obey whatever He tells you to do.

Hear Yahshua's words in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep my commands.” When we face challenging situations, we have a unique opportunity to demonstrate our love for Yahweh through obedience. He will likely not give us easy, quick fix answers. When we obey Him even though we may not understand why, we show others that Yahweh can be trusted. And we bless Him because He delights in our obedience.

You should always seek counsel from the Word of Yahweh, He knows best what's best for us!

Wise Counsel

“Where there is no guidance, a people falls; but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14

Life is challenging; and it presents us with decisions that are not easy to make on our own. We may pray about such a situation and read Yahweh's Word for guidance, but still feel confused and uncertain about the direction we should take. In these times it can be helpful to seek the advice of other wise and godly people.

Two things the Bible makes very clear are the benefit of godly counsel and the damage of ungodly counsel. “The thoughts of the righteous are just; but the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.” (Proverbs 12:5) Therefore it is important when seeking counsel that we examine the character and values of the person from whom we receive advice.

Not only are one’s character and values of importance, but we must also consider a person’s motives when evaluating the merit of their advice. Receiving advice from a person who has a vested interest or potential gain from the decision we make can lead us astray. The more subtle, but equally misleading advice can come from people who care about us, but give advice based on their own fears, insecurities or expectations. For example, a situation that would require complete reliance and dependence upon Yahweh may make a family member or friend uneasy and unwilling to support. We should always seek advice from people who know and love Yahweh, seek His will, and will be faithful to the truth of His Word.

As we weigh out the counsel we receive from others we need to ask ourselves the question, “Does this advice fit the character and nature of Yahweh as portrayed in the Bible?” We should test to see whether the counsel we receive is true and honest, just, pure, love, of good report and would glorify Yahweh.

Seeking wise counsel is a sign of maturity and humility. Learning to discern the difference between wise and poor counsel requires discernment and reliance upon Yah's Word and the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, our trust should never be in the people who give the advice, but in Yahweh Who through His Holy Spirit can use people to give us wisdom and assist us along the path of life.

We are called to love Yahweh above ALL else, if you love anyone/anything more than you love Him, He is not seated on the throne of your heart.... keep Yahweh first and foremost in your life and it will be well with your soul....

One Word, Two Directions

“Love Yahweh, your Elohim, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

Yahshua said that the moral virtues we ought to live by are summed up in one word: Love. This love should flow in two directions. It should flow vertically, “Love Yahweh, your Elohim, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind;” and it should flow horizontally, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When we follow those two commandments we will find loyalty, honesty, love, generosity, and sacrifice.

It is important, however, that these two expressions of love be kept in order. Our love for Yahweh must be foremost…even above our love for others. Why? Because it is Yahweh who shows us how to best love other people. If we are not grounded in our relationship with Yahshua, we cannot love others the way He wants us to. We must be careful to never “love” others at the expense of what is honoring to Yahweh and in line with His Word. The opposite is also true. Honoring Yahweh will never lead us to be unloving to others.

If we seek to love Yahweh first He will show us how to love others in a way that honors Him and shows His goodness, grace, and mercy.
