🌞💦 2026 ByzanTeen Summer Splash Bash & More! 💦🌞

On Saturday, August 8th, the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry hosted the “2026 ByzanTeen Summer Splash Bash & More!” at the Greek Catholic Union’s St. Nicholas Chapel and Seven Oaks Country Club, both in Beaver, PA. 🙏⛪️

After a quick icebreaker led by the archeparchy’s Youth and Young Adult Minister, Viktoria Zolnova, the teens’ day began with the Prayer of the Third Hour in the chapel, led by Father Tyler Wisniewski of St. John Chrysostom and St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Churches, both in Pittsburgh, PA. 🙏

An interactive talk on the Mystery of Baptism by Father Tyler entitled “You Are My Beloved Son” followed and encouraged participants to think deeply about who they really are as children of God. ❤️ It also included a demonstration of infant baptism, group discussion of Old Testament passages that foreshadowed baptism and how they revealed God’s love for us, time for personal reflection, and a renewal of baptismal promises. 💧✝️

While lunch and swimming at Seven Oaks were next on the agenda, an unfortunate power outage resulted in the pool being closed for the day. ⚡️🏊‍♀️ This was, of course, disappointing, but Seven Oaks graciously provided a private room for lunch, fellowship, and a few “bad weather” backup activities instead. 🙌

The teens truly made the best of it all! 🎉 With a mystery box challenge 🎁, line dancing 💃🕺, board games 🎲, and time spent just hanging out together, they had a fantastic time despite the last-minute change of plans! 😊

The day ended with announcements for the Archeparchy’s next youth event—the annual ByzanTeen Fall Hike and Cookout with Metropolitan Archbishop William Skurla on Saturday, September 12th—and a brief prayer for young people. 🙏🍂🥾

Thanks are especially extended to Seven Oaks Country Club for accommodating our group despite the pool closure and to our teens for their flexibility, their resilience, and for putting the “splash” into this year’s Splash Bash—even without a pool! 💦😄👏

“Do not leave your faith here,” Fr. Vasyl Kupar reminded the teens as the ByzanTEEN Youth Rally came to a close in a spirit of joy, prayer, and deep encounter with Christ.

Over four days at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, teens from across the Byzantine Catholic Church came together for worship, fellowship, formation, and fun. They prayed the divine services, received the holy mysteries, engaged in meaningful conversations with our bishops, and reflected in small groups on how God is working in their lives. The rally offered hands‑on opportunities to grow in faith and community—from chotki‑making and sports to a bistro social event that strengthened friendships.

A major highlight was the Rise Against Hunger service project, where our youth packaged 20,000 meals in under two hours, witnessing to Christ through active love for those in need. The teens also heard a keynote address from Ben Olsen, Founder and CEO of Interintelligence and Executive Director of the Faith Family Technology Network, who encouraged them to think faithfully and responsibly about the role of technology and AI in our world.

Thank you to all of our ByzanTEENS, clergy, volunteers, speakers, and organizers whose dedication made this Rally a blessed and memorable experience. Your enthusiasm and witness remind us that the future of our church is bright.

As we return home, may we carry with us the joy, friendships, and spiritual renewal of this gathering—continuing to live, grow in, and share our Byzantine Catholic Faith wherever God calls us. “Take courage” (Jn 16:33).
