All are invited to join Bower Hill Community Church - Presbyterian USA when we hold our second of three celebrations to commemorate our 75th Anniversary.

On February 1st, we will be celebrating our birthday in honor of our chartering date on February 4, 1951.

If you'd like to join us, here is what you need to know:

At Bower Hill we don’t get gifts for our birthday-we give gifts!

9:30 am Worship service featuring speakers from SHIM, The Neighborhood Academy, Casa San Jose, and First Baptist Church of Bridgeville.
10:30 am Throwback Potluck and filling snack bags for SHIM and The Neighborhood Academy and toiletry bags for Casa San Jose.

Please bring an old-fashioned dish for our Throwback Potluck. Can’t bring food, we will have plenty for all!!

The next event for BHCC's 75th Anniversary will feature a Throwback Potluck following the worship service. Here's a fun video of Susan Hicks explanation of the details about the meal.

The very first founding member of Bower Hill, Jean Barker, passed away in April, 2025.

Jean was much more than the first founding member. She was the wife of our first pastor, Rev. William Barker and played just as much a role in the formation of Bower Hill alongside her husband 75 years ago.

After Rev. Barker had moved on to a role in Pittsburgh Presbytery, they both went on to serve the congregations and communities of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown, PA and several churches on Cape Cod, MA, where they eventually lived in retirement. Upon Bill's death, she returned to Pittsburgh, PA, where she lived and returned to Bower Hill Community Church as a member until the end of her life.

Please join us this Sunday as we celebrate her life and her contributions to Bower Hill Church.

Join us for the first celebration to be held on September 7th beginning at 9:30 am with a worship service loosely modeled after our first worship service held on Sept 10, 1950. Following the service there will be a meal and fun activities.
