Together we will build on our Faith, Families, Forgiveness, Friendships, Fulfillment, Familiarities, Fearlessness, Fun and Fitness! Dear Sista-Friend,
A few years ago, the Lord started leading me in a direction that I didn’t really understand. I mean, I really had no clue of what was going on but knew something important was brewing. I started being drawn to pink carnations and th
ose who know me know that I grew up hating pink. During that time, I also had a lot of conversations (with women) about the lack of sisterhood. Women were yearning for bonding and more social interaction. My Gram (Grandma) would always tell me, “The older you get, the more difficult it is to make friends.” Not only was she right, but I learned that we somehow lose ourselves because of our responsibilities. We tend to nurture other people- sometimes to the point of self-neglect. After many sleepless nights, I realized that the answer to the ‘unknown’ would be answered through prayer. Honestly, I don’t know why I had not prayed about it (because I knew better). So, I sat down at my netbook and let God lead. He showed me what pink carnations symbolize and how it ties in with my purpose. Here are the basics of what He showed me:
Meanings
The general meaning of the carnation flower as a whole is love, fascination and distinction. The most commonly known meaning of the pink carnation is, "I will never forget you" and is often given to mothers on Mother's Day to represent that sentiment. The pink flower is given in the form of a corsage or a floral arrangement. A second meaning is to show support. The third meaning is capriciousness. Christian Meaning
A Christian tale relates the Virgin Mary cried as she watched Jesus endure the torment of carrying the cross on which he would later be crucified. The tears that fell from the Virgin Mary's eyes dropped to the ground and pink carnations grew from each teardrop. Viola! Powerful, right? We all can connect with the meanings. I’d like to add that as a flower is a gift to a friend or loved one, we are gifts from the Lord. Also, as flowers are admired, so shall we. Flowers grow together and share the earth making beautiful gardens. Sisterhood is about bonding. Sisterhood is about love. I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to become a part of, “The Pink Carnations.” This is the start of something beautiful
