Leashes and crates encouraged. And if these won't work, please bring a photo of your beloved creature. We can bless from afar, too.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

MaryMags is back on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM (5700 Forbes Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15217)! Our first story is about God making big, weird promises to people who lived a long time ago. We'll also wonder about big, weird promises that God makes to us now.

We'll share Holy Communion with the bread we made with Ms. Lee's help last Sunday and everyone gets to help at the altar!
See you soon!

Shalom! We hope you had a great summer, and looking forward to reconnecting with you all this Sunday.

Our meeting is Sunday, September 10th from 4:30-6:30 PM at Church of the Redeemer (5700 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217). As usual, kosher food will be provided (Pizza! Salad! Dessert!)

Questions to discuss with your small group:
In your religious tradition what is prophecy? What does prophecy point to and how does that matter for the content of your faith or practice?

Jewish tradition often connects Bible readings to midrash, or story ostinatos that further explain and expound on biblical texts. Do Christian traditions bear any analogous midrashic practices or elements to their scriptural interpretation? How so?

In your religious tradition, how do you interpret Bible readings for your faith life and practice today? Do you link readings in one portion of the Bible with another? If so, how and for what purpose?

What do you expect to hear from your faith leader (rabbi, pastor, etc.) about how to interpret texts for your faith and life practices?

This session falls right at the beginning of the penitential period of the Jewish year to ideally focus energies on considering what needs improvement in the coming new year. Our Jewish neighbors have been sounding the shofar (ram's horn) for a few weeks, and on Saturday evening just before our session, begin prayers of selihot, asking God for forgiveness for transgressions

Looking forward to our time together! Sabbath of peace and rest to you all.

All Redeemer members and friends new to Jewish-Christian conversation are welcome to join this session. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Pastor Hall at [email protected] so we're sure we have enough for all.

On this special Redeemer Kickoff Sunday, together with MaryMags, we're going to Bless the Backpacks and serve our neighbors at the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh at the 10:30 AM service!

If you're a student or school faculty/staff, bring your backpack or other schoolbag

EVERYONE please bring new toiletries/hygiene products for the Women’s Center & Shelter to give as an offering in the baskets during our service. Residents at the shelter need hygiene products that are often viewed as items for “private use” more than anything, so bring:

Shampoo
Conditioner
Body wash/soap
Feminine hygiene products
Diapers
Pull-ups

See you Sunday, September 10th at 10:30 AM for the Big Day!

It's the feast of Mary Magdalene!

Mary Magdalene is the one who recognized the voice of God when her name was spoken, and the one whom Jesus immediately sent out as the first to declare the good news of life in the world. It's a good namesake.
