Circle of Diana

Circle of Diana The Circle of Diana is a lineaged initiatory Wiccan coven, following an eclectic Gardnerian tradition. We are a daughter coven of Grove of Gaia.

We celebrate sabbats and Esbats and are located in east Pittsburgh, near Monroeville. Coveners work toward progressive levels of initiation in our Wiccan tradition. Ours is a path of deepening spiritual and magical development, and a nurturing, yet challenging, space to learn and to grow.

Circle of Diana is happy to announce the elevation of our coven sister, Rowan Dandelion to Third Degree Priestess. She has been with us since the beginning. Her carefully planned rites and deeply moving pathworking have added so much to our coven over the years. We all have been touched by her deep spirituality and celebrate with her as she moves along on her path.

Congratulations Lady Rowan Dandelion!

What are some of your favorites?

We tend to take published rituals for granted today. Between websites, e-books, and bookstores there are probably hundreds of different “Books of Shadows” available for perusal and personal use. But that’s a modern development, and it took nearly twenty years from the Craft first going public ...

A beautiful Roman fresco depicting the Goddess Diana. In Roman Polytheism Diana is the Goddess of the Hunt, Forests and Hills, the Moon (a role Diana adopted from Luna), Archery. Oak groves are especially sacred to her. Diana was born with her twin brother Apollo on the island of Delos, daughter of Jupiter and Latona. Diana makes up a triad with two other Roman deities: Egeria the water nymph, her servant and assistant midwife; and Virbius, the woodland god. The celestial character of Diana is reflected in her connection with light, inaccessibility, virginity, and her preference for dwelling on high mountains and in sacred woods. Diana therefore reflects the heavenly world (diuum means sky or open air) in its sovereignty, supremacy, impassibility, and indifference towards such secular matters as the fates of mortals and states. At the same time, however, she is seen as active in ensuring the succession of kings and in the preservation of humankind through the protection of childbirth.

Circle of Diana celebrated Ostara remotely with each of us setting up an altar and using video chat. There were some technical issues, but it worked reasonably well. Glad to share time and sacred space (even virtually) with my coven sisters.

Our altar for our Imbolc celebration tonight.
The candles were etched with 19 crosses and we burn them a lil each night for 19 days. 19 is Brigid's sacred number. Something that I just learned. How cool.

Brightest blessings to you all. May Brigid bless you and yours. Blessed Be
