First Lutheran Church First English Evangelical Lutheran Church has served downtown Pittsburgh since its founding in 1837. We welcome all who worship with us.

The First English Evangelical Lutheran Church has served downtown Pittsburgh since its founding in 1837 as the First English-speaking Lutheran church west of the Alleghenies. Its members come from far and near to participate in its Christian witness in the heart of the city: a witness that is faithful to Holy Scripture and to the historic Lutheran Confessions. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is at the

center of its life, providing direction, comfort, and hope. If you are seeking a church home in Pittsburgh, we invite you to become part of our downtown ministry.

Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Holy Spirit as God’s presence within and among us on the Day of Pentecost. In Acts, the Spirit arrives in rushing wind and flame, bringing God’s presence to all people. We celebrate that we too are given the gift of the Holy Spirit and sent forth to proclaim God’s redeeming love to all the world. Join us for worship on the Day of Pentecost - this Sunday, May 24, at 8:30 and 11:00 AM. All are welcome!
