Beth El Congregation of the South Hills

Beth El Congregation of the South Hills Located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Beth El Congregation is a modern congregation committed to welcoming all with open arms without distinction.

Beth El is a thriving and open community, a family welcoming to all. We are a modern congregation that strives to provide value beyond the life cycle needs of our members in a manner consistent with our ideals. We are committed to providing an engaging Jewish education for all ages and abilities, as we continue to modernize to be more relevant to the lives of today’s congregants. Beth El Congregat

ion of the South Hill welcomes interfaith families with open arms, without distinction, unconditionally and with our full support. We are a community deeply committed to diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. If you are seeking a warm and caring community, Beth El may be the place for you! Interfaith families often wonder where and how they can integrate religion into their lives when one or more family members enjoy different religions. You may have a single member of your family who is Jewish and would like to remain connected to the Jewish community and religion, or perhaps you are Jewish family with a non-Jewish family member. Our goal here at Beth El is not to separate the Jewish person(s) from the non-Jewish family members, but to accept the family as a whole, giving all family members the opportunity to share, grow, and celebrate life together – as a family. Beth El’s Spiegel Religious School prepares its students and their families to participate fully in Jewish life—at home, in the synagogue, and as part of the larger Jewish community. Our creative and engaging learning environment is based on a dynamic evolving curriculum. We have weekday morning and evening minyans in addition to Shabbat and holiday services. Almost every month of the year, we hold family activities that provide a great deal of fun and community spirit. These include monthly musical family Shabbat services and dinners, as well as other events around each holiday: a Family Seder on the second night of Passover, a Chanukah Party, a Community Purim carnival, etc. We have an active Sisterhood (including a Zahava group) and Men’s Club that enhance the congregation with their many social, educational, and fundraising activities. Joining Beth El is joining a family that is growing, alive, active, and exciting. We have three beautiful sanctuaries, a social hall and Community Room, a full commercial kitchen, and an in-house catering capability to handle all of the needs of our Congregants. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to call the synagogue office at (412) 561-1168 to speak with Chris Benton, Executive Director.
