Pittsburgh New Church

Pittsburgh New Church We are a congregation of the General Church of the New Jerusalem located in the neighborhood of Point Breeze in Pittsburgh.

The New Church is a Christian denomination that addresses questions about God, love, and life after death with answers that make sense. It is a religion to be lived, not just believed. New Church beliefs are of course founded in the Word of God in the Old and New Testaments, and provide new insight into its meaning. Some of our core beliefs: • There is one loving, personal God, and He is the Lord

Jesus Christ. • The life of religion is to obey the Ten Commandments, and to act honestly and faithfully in our daily occupations. • The Word of God (the Bible) has a deeper meaning, teaching about a person’s spiritual development. • Each of us continues life as a complete person immediately after death of the body. • God does not judge us, but we judge ourselves by what we love and how we live. • People of every faith are saved if they live sincerely according to their religion. This Sunday, April 26 is the Park Cleanup Community Service Project!
Come out and join us to help pick up trash in Mellon Park. This is a great way to work together as a congregation, and a great way to introduce kids to charitable service.

The plan is to stay after church for lunch, and then work in the park from about 1 to about 3. We’ll provide gloves and trash bags for all of the volunteers.

Bible Reading Challenge of 2026: Read the Word in one year!

We invite you to join us in reading the New Church canon of the Word throughout 2026—from January 1st through December 31st. This year-long schedule guides you through every book of the Word that contains an internal sense, averaging just 1–3 chapters per day.

To support one another in the journey, we are also starting a WhatsApp group for daily reflections and discussion. If you would like to join the group or receive a copy of the reading schedule, please contact Rev. Dan Calvo at [email protected].
