Twin Reflection Ponds (Sect. 14) Legend has it that Allegheny's twin ponds were formed during the Civil War, when God looked down on the fallen and wept great tears. In 1861, the cemetery's landscape architects channeled natural spring water to shape and form these sylvan lakes, of which there were once five total, as well as a waterfall! (excerpt from Images of America: Allegheny Cemetery) These stunning images were captured by Ian Luconti, showing a heron at the aforementioned ponds.
