Feast of St. Rocco in Morningside, Pittsburgh, PA The official page of The Feast of St. Rocco in Morningside, PA. The Feast of St. Raphael Church. St. This happened in Italy near the city of Piacenza.

Rocco was celebrated for the first time in Morningside, PA on August 3, 1980 at St. This is a page to find out information/donations/events for the Feast day. Rocco was a French Noble person born at Montpellier, France on a pilgrimage to Rome he was struck by the devastation wrought by the plague and was very charitable to the many afflicted by it. As a result of his kindness and concern he himself was afflicted by the plague. Rocco withdrew to a nearby woods and there God himself consoled and healed him. Daily, Rocco was fed with bread brought to him by a dog belonging to a noble-family. The nobleman--coming to know this fact--was himself converted to the faith. Upon his return to France and to his own family; Rocco was (for reason in God's own Providence) unfamiliar to family and friends. In fact, thinking he was disguised as a spy, Rocco was thrown into prison. There he stayed for five years. And there, finally, he died. It was only upon his death and with the discovery of a birth mark on his chest that family and friends knew their error.
