Located at Amberson Avenue and Westminster Place in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Shadyside Presbyterian Church was founded in 1866 and has enjoyed a long history of global and local outreach and service. Shadyside Presbyterian Church is a member of the Pittsburgh (PA) Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the church building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a prime example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture.

Join us for worship this morning at 11:00 a.m. as we gather for the Second Sunday after Pentecost.

The Reverend Michael J. Holohan preaches from Luke 13:1-9 in a sermon titled "When Bad Things Happen Because Someone is Good." The Hebrew Scripture reading comes from Leviticus 19:23-25.

Music this morning includes the anthem "There Is A Balm in Gilead" arranged by William Dawson, featuring soloist Gail E. Roup, and the offering anthem "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" with soprano Charlene Canty. The congregation will process with Hymn 488, "The God of Abraham Praise."

Worship includes the Sacrament of Communion. All are welcome at the table.

Tonight in the Chapel, we close out the 33rd season of Music in a Great Space with Camerata’s June concert — Welcome to Summer: Music from Britain and Beyond.

The program takes listeners across oceans and landscapes, centered on the shared human experience of home. The evening features music of the British Isles alongside the world premiere of a newly-commissioned work: Wander-Land: “The Neighbor’s Anthem,” composed by Michael Markowski with text by Andy Wilkinson.

Before the concert, join composer Michael Markowski and librettist Andy Wilkinson for a pre-concert talk from 6:10 to 6:50 p.m. in the Chapel, where they will discuss the collaborative process behind the new work. Sign up for the talk when you purchase your concert tickets at the door.

Trinity Sunday worship is tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary and online.

The Reverend Austin Crenshaw Shelley will preach on "Hallowed," with scripture drawn from Genesis 1:1–2:4a and Matthew 28:16–20.

The service also includes a Litany of Thanksgiving honoring Ellen Allston, Director of Children's Ministries, as she concludes 18 years of faithful service. Following worship, please join us in the Parish Hall for a reception celebrating Ellen's ministry and retirement.

🍓One week away from the 31st Annual Strawberry Festival at Shadyside Presbyterian Church! 🍓

Join us Friday, June 5 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. for an evening of community, games, and good food in support of Sojourner House, which provides compassionate recovery services and supportive housing for mothers and their families.

Enjoy freshly sliced strawberries over ice cream and shortcake, grilled hot dogs, chips, salad, beverages, and baked goods. Plenty of outdoor games for children. Admission is free, with tickets available for purchase on-site.

Volunteer opportunities are also available, including food prep on Thursday evening, bake sale donations, and day-of event support.

The 31st Annual Strawberry Festival is coming up on Friday, June 5 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.!

Join us for a traditional evening of fun, games, and delicious food as we come together as a community to support Sojourner House, which provides compassionate recovery services and supportive housing for mothers and their families.

Enjoy freshly sliced strawberries over ice cream and shortcake, grilled hot dogs, chips, salad, beverages, and baked goods for purchase. Plenty of outdoor games for the kids, too!
Admission is free. Tickets for refreshments and activities are available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting Sojourner House.

The Reverend Austin Crenshaw Shelley will preach "Rivers of Living Water and the Spirit of God," drawing from Acts 2, Numbers 11, and John 7. Worship begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary and online.

Today, staff gathered for a luncheon in honor of our Director of Children's Ministry, Ellen Allston, who is retiring on May 31 after 18 years of faithful, loving service to the children and families of Shadyside Presbyterian Church.

But the celebration is not just for staff. The entire congregation is invited to a reception of celebration and gratitude following worship on May 31. Come share your appreciation, your memories, and your well-wishes as we honor Ellen and send her into this next chapter with joy.
