My Jewish Car - True story: I pulled into synagogue on the first day of Elul — the month before the Jewish New Year, when a ram's horn (shofar) is blown daily as a spiritual wake-up call. Its rhythm: one long blast, broken blasts, short rapid blasts, one final long blast. As I parked, my car's backup sensor beeped the exact same pattern. Even the mundane, it turns out, can be trying to get your attention — you just have to be listening.
