There’s only ONE who knows how to truly mend a broken heart. Our Creator, He is the ONE that knows the hurt and the loss and knows how to repair the damage. He can make our hearts stronger than before and rejuvenate them with new purpose when it feels like it’s broken beyond repair. He restores what’s been lost and consistently handles them with care. We can trust HIM with our hearts.

This is a powerful quote I heard recently. It’s speaks volumes. How often do the things we hear in our own minds about ourselves seem so loud? The accusations oftentimes appear to be shouting at us constantly. But that’s only because those lies are desperately trying to convince us of something that is completely opposite of what is true about us. We are NOT the sum of our past mistakes. We are NOT what our social status tries to reveal about us. We are NOT less than anyone else. We have been created on purpose for a purpose. And the design and plan for our life cannot be completely ruined because of what our past, our family, our success or failures say about us. There is ONE who has the Plan, and His Plan will come to pass in our lifetime, if we seek it out and stop listening to the LIES. We are worthy, we are free, we are set apart for a purpose. Reject the lies and embrace the truth of who you are, who you were created to be. And take time to drown out the noise, tune in and be still. Truly take time to hear from the ONE who speaks ONLY Truth. Pursue Truth, for it is pursuing You and Truth wants to set you FREE.

So much happens in our after care groups. Not only are old wounds healed, but we learn so much about who we truly are. Lies we believed about ourselves are silenced and we can begin to see ourselves as we truly are. And we learn to live from that truth. There’s nothing better than loving the life you’ve been given.

In the Bible, there is a prophet named Isaiah who spoke for God and said, “Forget the former things: do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
It’s interesting to me that the new year falls in the dead of winter. Yet it still comes with hope that things will get better and brighter. We tend to hold on to the notion that this year has to be better than the last. This Bible verse is deeply layered with hope and promise. Even in the midst of cold and dark days we can be thankful for a fresh start and we can trust that spring will come. All the while, we hope that this new year will bring forth all that we desire it to be. We make plans, promises and resolutions. But what we shouldn’t do is hold onto the past. It is gone. Especially a painful past, it has nothing to offer us in our search for newness. We must let go of the former things and know that the ONE who knows us best is making a way. And sometimes that way He is making requires us to take one small step of faith towards something new. Sometimes we have to get a little uncomfortable to discover the way out of the wilderness or find that stream in the wasteland. Sometimes, it takes a small act on our part to receive all that He has for us. So, YES He is doing something new. He alway is.. but what is the one new thing you are doing in order to walk down the paths that He has laid out for you?
